This is a great deal for this lens. It's the same optically as the more premium and expensive XF version. The XF is made of metal and has an aperture ring but the glass is otherwise the same. This lens is tack sharp and the autofocus is faster than many of Fuji's older lenses.

Yes, it may be true that it is optically identical, but the XC does not support Fujifilm's LMO (Lens Modulation Optimizer) tech. This may be important to some folks.

THANKS OP !! This lens has been on my wishlist for over 2 years! It never refuses to go under $179 new...and the one time I had an opportunity to snag it for ~$130 used on eBay...I lost the auction to another bidder at the very last millisecond! I already have the $399 all-metal XF 35mm F2 in silver but have always wanted this XC lens to keep it permanently on my Fujifilm X-E1 (the silver XF looks funny on my all-black X-E1). Because the mount is plastic and could potentially wear out, I want to keep it permanently on the X-E1 so I'm not always mounting/unmounting.

No Fuji bodies or cameras are sealed from inclement weather. They are resistant to it, but that is an extremely different level of protection than being sealed. You can see what their resistance capabilities are by reading the owner's manual or referencing the Fuji website.
