I placed an order at 4/26/2025 6:59 AM PT. I got it to add to cart after about 5 retries on the pre-order button. Went all the way through to complete the purchase and received a confirmation email.
I saw a long line of people outside my local at Game Stop on Thursday, hours before open, waiting to pre-order. This was much easier and faster, lol.
The fact that this is till working and there still is stock is not a good sign. I was on the fence. Even went so far to checkout. but I thought about it and came to my senses. Nintendo bugging.

The fact Walmart is the only retailer doing this though?
I can't believe they had them available when I went to bed last night and again when I woke up this morning. And I got my preorder in a couple days ago when they went live with no issues. It seems Nintendo really has done a pretty good job of loading up supply and making these easier to get than past releases.
Obviously it's a new product and the followup to one of the most successful consoles of all time, so not everyone will get one right off the bat, but it seems much easier than with the original Switch launch, and not even in the same ballpark as PS5. It took me over a year to get my PS5, and that was while being on notification and waiting lists from several retailers.

Still not a good sign. You couldn't get a original switch or a ps5 months after release. No where. The demand was there. The fact that its easy to get one of these a day later is not a good sign. I predict these sitting on shelf after the initial release. Nintendo has no one to blame but themselves. The original switch was $300. I would have paid $400 for the switch 2. $450 is a little high but not crazy. Its the games and accessories that nails the coffin for me personally. $80-$90 games!!! $100 controllers. The switch 2 zelda is $90 same game. Nintendo is crazy. I was at checkout earlier and changed my mind. Mind you i had a switch at launch. That stopped charging so I brought another without question. Then I brought a mario edition switch. I now own a oled zelda switch. Brought 3 more for my kids. More as gifts. At these prices for switch 2 that is definitely not happening my fellow gamer. At these prices Im strongly considering a Lenovo legion go or steam deck!!
You could also look into the Asus Rog Ally or (X) as well if the prices truly bother you.
There were previous generations where games were priced the same as they are now. If you buy the switch 1 version of Zelda BOW or TOTK, it is a much lower of a cost. However, this is your choice. Walmart has been going through orders and removing bot orders. That is why this has been coming up. It has nothing to do with the number. If you look at the other retailers, they are, in fact, sold out.

Thanks.I forgot about the Asus. And yes. Bots and resellers are horrible. I hope other retailers follow suit and implement measures to stop bots.

Yes, this is partially true. Nintendo has actually been establishing more pre-orders due to uncertainty going on in the area of trade (without getting political).
As for the ease of getting a Switch 2, it seems about the same as PS5 and Series X when they first debuted (I was able to get a Series X and PS5 when they first debuted along with a Switch 2 preorder). Walmart has been going through orders and removing multiple buys and bot orders according to some sources. That is a good thing I feel because the people that actually want a Switch 2 have an opportunity to get one.

I can't speak for the difficulty of pre-ordering PS5 or Switch, since I didnt preorder either, but I know after launch, PS5s were nearly impossible to find unless they were through a marked-up 3rd party seller until ~1.5 years after launch. I started trying to get one about 6 months after launch, had notifications set for a dozen retailers, and was on a half a dozen waiting lists for one (including direct from Sony), and it took me about 9 months on waiting lists to get mine. And I never saw one in stores until after I bought mine.
OG Switch I never really saw out of stock in stores besides the first 2-3 months after release. I bought mine the first time I saw it in a B&M store about a month after release.
I really wasn't expecting my Switch 2 preorder to go through without a hitch, much less for them to be listed available again multiple times this week. And the first time they were listed last night, they were in stock for well over an hour.
