You can use the steam wand to output hot water by pulling the wand out and pressing the single serve button and the milk texture button at the same time.
You can also re-program the shot length for each button to help dial in your preferred water to coffee ratio. See this quick tutorial: https://www.breville.co
You can remove the plastic liner of the portafilter to fit lager IMS baskets like 18-22g. Note it does take a lot of force to get out, and you need to remove the inner basket spring first. Recommend using plastic chop sticks to help get the plastic liner out as well as some metal picks to pry it out. If you only want to make 12-14g shots, then don't even bother with this.
Example of larger brew basket for around $17-20

You'll want to buy a better tamper since the one it comes with is pretty terrible. The normcore [amazon.com] 53.3" spring loaded tamper (3 spring included), works very well to make for consistent level and tamping pressure. It's around $43-45 but helped made my shots way more consistent.
You can buy "naked" portafilter to fit even larger baskets than a 18-22g, but you can likely skip that purchased unless you really want to see how your shots are forming and planning to have extra large shots.
You can buy generic coffee cleaning powders like Unrex Puro or Cafiza instead of expensive Breville cleaning tablets.
Update: A less important purchase but helpful one is a dosing funnel and puck screen filter. I didn't think I'd needed either one, but after getting them, it was helpful to prevent grounds from spilling from the portafilter and made for lower maintenance of the shower head. You can simply run another short shot of water to clean and/or a blank shot using the included cleaner plug to flush our any grounds from your system. Combo puck screen and dosing funnels can be found for around $9-12 on Amazon in the 53/54mm size.
Some example recommendations include:
Baratza Encore ESP ~$200
Baratza Sette 270 ~$400
Eureka Mignon Zero Espresso Grinder ~ $350
DF64 Gen 2 Single Dose ~$400
LAGOM casa ~ $530
Niche Zero ~ $670

Using the regular one right now and I'd much rather invest in a better grinder than in better espresso machine
Counter-counter point. Knocking out your own lattes at home is time-consuming and laborious. Lattes are expensive at Starbucks. By making your life simpler every morning making your own latte makes it easier to stay away from expensive Starbucks a lot more doable. It's also nice to enjoy what you're doing.
I'd say no but then again I got a regular Bambino from Target clearance for $180+tax which was an awesome deal
* Toaster(s) - one element burned out... both times. Smart oven - problems with both convection fan and display partially failing. Bread maker and ice cream maker** - both had similar problem with main rotary control knob getting messed up and can't tell if it's moving one way or the other or sometimes if it's moving at all.
** Yes, the $500 one, and they can't even give it a knob that works reliably after a couple years of light use.

My DF64 has been amazing.

The Breville toaster ovens are awesome you just can't use it for greasy air frying or they go bad real quick. It's max temperature is 480 and as fast convection. Honestly I wouldn't get the oven past 465 or so. That's where the problem start if you do that a long time. You can make almost everything under that temperature.
There's many Breville products that are duds or just pointless. Some are gems. Like the Breville oven you just crapped on. I make everything my bravo oven including oxtail tri-tip beef ribs, bool bread, bake good like the lemon zest cookies and then all kinds of frozen foods I heat up in a way that makes some extra yummy.
Breville also has a good mechanical milk froth or though overpriced at like $120 last time I looked . Gambino was supposed to be really good I buy mine right now.

Highly worth the upgrade for that alone IF you make milk based drinks (2-3 flat whites a day for me personally). If not, get the regular Bambino.
There are some other, small upgrades that I didn't see mentioned yet, like the increase water container size, I *think* it also has a larger/deeper drip tray (I can't imagine a smaller one than the tiny one on the Plus though), and the included baskets are steel not aluminum.
I especially like their jet system for heating the water. It doesn't heat the group head automatically but turning the Bamino Plus on, running an empty shot, and then running an actual shot is much faster than getting a shot out of any boiler-based espresso machine.
I love my milk drinks + every other type of brewing method out there.
I got pissed off in my search for a good frother that wont yeet itself in the first couple of weeks, or kill me in the long run with flaking microplastics. I was looking to buy a Bellman standalone wand yesterday, and came across this deal. I picked up the regular Bambino last night and having pulled shots last night, and several today. I am legit excited to use it more. I love the fact that it is able to quickly heat up and I don't have to go through even more of a process to use it. I got my morning coffee ritual down to 10m for my pour-overs/immersion. I feel like even though I am introducing more manual processes here, I can probably keep it within 15m, which is acceptable to me for a truly cold-start.
