And prly lose $200 in buying lverage as the dollar bottoms out, even if CPUs are tarrifed or not. Might as well buy now and get 24 months of use while the platform/cpu is still the high end

Unlikely. I bought my 5900X (2 generations ago version of this CPU) for $330 on prime day 2022 (about 2 years after release) and it took well over a year for it to ever go lower than that. This is a great price for a very new CPU.

Passmark of this is 55000 multi and 4700 single btw. Mine is 42000 and 3600 so it's a huge step up from that. Probably much less of a step up from the 7900X but that's almost the same price as this right now anyways

Probably not. I picked up a 7900x at this price point about two years ago, a hell of a deal at the time, and was pleasantly surprised how long it held its value.

If you need a decent CPU you really can't go wrong with one of these. If on the other hand you don't mind paying nearly twice as much for an extra 10% gain in framerates, by all means go with the X3D instead. For a more balanced build, I would invest that price difference in a better GPU and make sure you don't skimp on the RAM, mobo or NVMe.

Hell, I invested in the 7900x two weeks ago at 341 with an nvme and monster hunter. Yes the 9900x was cooler running. But they trade blows. And with PBO it makes it great. I think when the next consoles come out 12 core is gonna be the tops for most games. You can see where many PS5 ports run about the same x3d components and certain games do recommend 12 cores if you are doing ultra.

You will save even more money if you don't buy it at all.

How much worse is this than the 9800x3d? Considering this vs that one while I wait a few for the 9950x3d

amazon failed to deliver the game, so they offered a $80 partial refund. The game costs $70 on steam. I took the partial refund. Just want to share incase anyone didn't receive their game as well. Smilie
