So the 2 free games are supposed to show once the CPU is in the cart, but I couldn't get that to work. Even during checkout, no mention of the 2 games. Does anyone know how this works?

The games will not show in your cart because it's a promotion directly from AMD. Once you get and install the new CPU, you can download a small app from AMD Rewards that validates it and enables your games. Then, you get the codes to Epic or Steam from the AMD Rewards website. I believe the codes are only through Epic now, but I may be incorrect. The whole thing is a PITA, but I've never had an issue getting the games. Make sure to redeem them before they expire, which is usually several months.

It appears based on what's on AMD's site that the games are Unknown 9 Awakening and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. So, basically a nothingburger, for me at least.

Anyone buying primarily for gaming and spending ~$400 should be getting X3D. You're right that they should wait for 9000-series X3D.
