I think at load the Core 7 uses about 50 watts more for very incremental performance gain depending on what you are doing.

I have this and am still enjoying it's performance . It's better at productivity than gaming.
Currently #6 in single threaded performance and #8 in multithreaded. The only better CPU at this price is the $380 - Core 7 265K CU-8200

I already own a 9900X which I bought on sale for $306 in "Open Box - Like New" condition during Prime Day last year. Couldn't see myself paying upwards of $400 for one.
