Upon checking with customer support online, this does require 60 days of uninterrupted service to get unlocked. Also for someone who already has a line active, adding a new line can get the $60 plan for $40 or lower (with auto pay).

Also. embracing for the time machine jokes, I still think 16e 128gb at $299 for the phone, was a better deal and might come back - far superior processor, 8gb ram, Apple AI support, longer os update support, convenient usb-c port instead of lightning etc. These far outweigh the potential advantages from 14 plus - 256gb, dual camera, magsafe, larger screen size etc for me.
Not true for everyone/every use case, agreed. YMMV
Is this something where you can get the device, pay a month, and then bail? And if so, could the phone be unlocked? (Sorry, if this is an ignorant question, I'm a noob.)
Yeah, the policy changes since April 1st has caused a lot of confusion. I purchased the 16e precisely on April 1 and despite the policy changes being published after I bought and they are not the same for Verizon prepaid as for mnvos, I am still going to recharge another month for my 16e, given it will need me to pay ($60 - $25 monthly discount on 16e deal - $10 from auto pay = $25) only. If I don't pay for the 2nd month and Verizon refuses to unlock in lack of 60 days of service, then worst case, I will have to pay for another consecutive 60 days at a much higher rate since I will loose the $25 discount. So, for $25+tax more, I am willing to pay to avoid any such risk.
YMMV

What happens if I am already a Verizon customer?
Are you more in this for the phone or are you more interested in switching to Verizon prepaid in perpetuity? I don't know how the plan costs compare, but you should do the math on that.

If you are more interested in this deal to just get the phone, and then add it to your existing Verizon (I'm guessing postpaid) plan, I guess I'd see if you were eligible to open a prepaid account (I don't see why not). The Verizon Prepaid plans can be opened in a corporate store, so just make sure to call around Verizon stores and ensure it's a corporate store before going in store. At most you'd have to wait 60 days for the phone to unlock. Or maybe a Verizon Prepaid phone is compatible with Verizon Postpaid from day 1.

Edit to add: now that I've scrolled down I see your other comment that you are more interested in this deal for the phone alone.

How did you get $25 monthly discount ?Are you the existing customer? Thanks
The poster is referring to an aspect of the 16e deal from a couple of months ago, which was $25 bill credits for 12 months (not available in the first month though). That was for that deal.

Similarly, for the 14 Plus deal currently offered, VZW Prepaid is offering $20/month credits for up to 10 months (not available in the first month).

I searched and didn't see any current VZ prepaid customer doing this deal? I tried to add a 3rd line for this deal and the $60 plan looks to be brought down to $40 first month w/ multi-line and $30 going forward with autopay discounts (total w/ tax is $314.xx). So when I get this phone do I need to activate w/ new line (eSIM) or just use with one of my existing VZ prepaid lines? Is there a way to cancel the first month $40 and get credit on the acct if I cancel the line within 3 days?

additional cash back available from 2 x Rs; pick your poison

One offers $75 New Service (Phone Plans) or $15 add-a-line / new prepay customers. Not sure if New Service = postpaid only.

The other offers $80 new account / add a line of service (not sure if prepaid included) or $40 for prepaid line on new account. But it also says you can combine both offers so possibly get the $40 + $80? On the promotion it shows both; $40 in big font and then $80 in small font.

I've read through the post on for this and am still confused on the unlocking status so I need a little ELI5

Does it only need 30 days of service and then after another 30 days of waiting the phone will be unlocked
or
Does it need 60 days of service and then the phone will be unlocked?
The former used to be correct. April 1, Verizon changed their policy so now the latter is correct

I believe Verizon has their own policy separate from their 3rd party subsidies (ie Tracfone, STW, etc)

Tried in store and they couldn't even find an iPhone 14 Plus on their computer so they couldn't replicate the deal. Tried buying from the site and my order disappeared after putting in payment info. Too much trouble, gonna wait for something else.

Ordered, order number kept saying invalid, wasted hours on live chat, 20 hr later, order cancelled. Tried again, order number worked immediately, got tracking number within an hr of order. So ... Yeah.... Now my question is. I only got this for my wife who is on a Verizon postpaid account. I ordered it on my Verizon pre-paid account. Can I immediately cancel the month of service. Or even just keep that and not activate, and just give it to my wife so she can use it on her postpaid account. Since it's locked still, but she's with Verizon, that lock shouldn't matter right?

Clearly you aren't looking to sell the phone at this time. So as long as it works for your wife's postpaid service, that is what matters. Do you plan to sell it, in a few years? Do you think you'll ever want to switch from Verizon to something else while still owning the phone? I think you have to activate the phone on prepaid for it to have the chance for a proper unlock. Not sure if prepaid/postpaid overlaps but I would consider activating first even if you ant to switch it immediately.

You don't need to immediately cancel a month of prepaid service, because it's prepaid. You can let the plan run out if you don't want future months of service.

So Verizon prepaid will always work with a postpaid sim? That's been tested?

In the worst-case scenario, third-party services charge up to $24.99 to unlock the phone.

I'm confused as to what "unlock" means. Would I be able to use this for with AT&T after the 60 days?
