Slickdeals always knows what I'm in the market for - even when it's some obscure item. Almost like the phone is listening 🤔. lol nah just a coincidence. Repped

Installed our first one in 2019 and our second last year (to get more capacity). No complaints. They sip power and the garage gets a dehumidifier as a bonus.

For you Home Assistant nerds you can connect a Esphome up to the diag port and get local control and sensor data.

I have the 80 gallon model from 2017. It has been great. One part had to be replaced last year but was covered by warranty (unit was still operational before the fix). Family of 6, water is always hot.

Install is primarily based on size. Ours was similar install cost to other similarly sized options. It's a simple job. This can heat in two ways, heat pump mode or electric mode. My understanding is that the install is just like popping in a normal electric water heater. Hook up hot and cold lines coming out, not rocket science.

Cheapest they have been in awhile. If even thinking about this buy now and decide whether to keep it later. As far as utility company rebates mine said/says must be installed by participating contractor. I did it myself and told them there was no participating contractor in my area (which was true) and they gave me the rebate no issue.

Check your local energy trust/commission. Can often get these FAR cheaper than this. I paid half of this price for the 50 gallon through Oregon

That one in 2021, piece of junk, rheem will not fix or replace, waste of $$$.

Rheem told us to take it back to Home Depot where it came from. Home Depot wouldn't accept the return even after they called rheem. Rheem said there was no other way to handle it.

It should cost the same as a regular electric water heater installation, you do have to add a condensate drain

Installation is Exactly the same as a regular electric water heater, though you do need to provide a condensate drain line

A couple months in and I'm happy so far. The first month dropped 14% in overall house usage, and the second dropped 24%. Everything else has been more or less equal.

Went from 80 gallon to 50 gallon, and it's been fine. The one day four of us used the shower at about the same time and my daughter took a long shower first, we just took somewhat shorter showers after her and spaced them out some with the heater on regen. Did not run out of hot.

I also capture the condensate and use it to water plants. I could do a much better job of ducting, since right now it just pours into a small room with top and bottom vents (attic and crawl space). It gets quite cold in that little room. If it heats up around here, I'll just leave the closet door open and block the vents.

Did you have to buy in person? Thats what I am seeing for these in the PDX area.
