It's confusing... Reviews say the ram is upgradable but only up to 16GB..

If the dimm slots are available, why the limit? (If that's even true...)

Not entirely, but all editions of Windows 10 reach end of life this October. Unless you do not care for your system security, downgrade should not be a consideration even if you find compatible hardware drivers.

This is perfect if someone needs a machine for everyday use as we enter the slow summer for laptop deals and possible supply/deal constraints because of the tariffs

2 USB-A, 1 USB-C?
What year is this? Having more A than C on any device that isn't an adapter is garbage.
Just the opposite. My work has laptops with 1 usb-A and 2-usb C and they had to go out and buy adapters to turn one of the usb-c into a usb-a. Most devices like flash drives and wireless mice still use usb-a.

That's how it's supposed to be. You don't spend lots of money on old technology, you spend it on new technology. And if you need backward compatibility, you spend a few bucks on the old technology.

If you told me that whithin 2 or 3 years all peripherals would be usb-c that would make sense but that isn't going to happen.

Most people would rather not have to walk around with adapters sticking out of their laptops all day.

Yes. The license tracks. Just install with your favorite USB or DVD iso.

Crappy 250 nit screen, I think, no back lit keyboard, yes you can add more memory, but I don't know if you can add a second SSD or just have to replace what's in there with a larger if you want. Doesn't seem like a great deal to me. Especially with that screen. One of the q&a's says it's not even ips.

I got this same laptop (but with 512gb) from target for $300 about a month ago. The screen is absolutely awful. But I use it as a HTPC and for that it has been great.

I'm not sure if those 2 laptops were exactly the same. The one form Target came in S mode and this one doesn't while the one from Target had a backlit keyboard and this one doesn't.
