Looks like c402 camera kit (amazon) vs tc82 x3 cameras (costco). So, No?
Not sure what is different yet.

Costco ones are 2k and Amazon one is 1080p, other than that I did not check for any other differences.

I couldn't find it in the description; do these require a subscription or proprietary software? Can these be paired with open-source home monitoring software and DIY home hardware solutions?

I have other tapo cameras, they do require subscription for cloud recording. But they work perfectly well with microsd card. App will send you alerts, you can use the app to look at recording and alerts.
They also allow old school user id, password connection. I use VLC player to watch the camera we have on the outside.

If it is like other tapo cameras, It allows you to connect to rstp stream. I use VLC, I guess same stream can be used. You may need software to record.

I thought I saw a blog post where the author says that the tapo cameras are great for Home Assistant and Frigate combo..

As of until now none of Tapo battery cameras allow 24x7 recording. They are only woken up by motion and record a certain number of seconds at the most.

I'm pretty sure the author was talking about wired ones.
I was recommending them as well until a few weeks ago but lately they are just not performing well enough.. network latency and disappearing frigate streams are annoying to say the least. But their object detection is almost perfect

did some research, looks like this is 1080p not really 2k per costco based on the picture of the camera if has 2k should have 2 cameras and 2 led light, i compared from costco and amazon pics

The camera's front looks like 1k camera. Checked 1k and 2k camera photos in Tapo website and Costco photo looks like 1k camera.

Also the costco pricing is somewhat matching 1k Camera 3 pack. 2K camera 3 pack price is way more higher with every other sellers including Tapo.

Thanks - I love the simplicity of wireless, but hate the "it's not there when I most needed it" scenario.
