I make 2 mistakes per year. Today was one of them.

Weber replacement parts are so easy to find. Have a Genesis from 10+ years ago, just replaced all the flavorizer bars and burner tubes for $30, it's like new again.

Pretty sure only propane. Would love to hear differently!
You can select propane or NG when ordering

I know. I'm talking about the propane cover to match since this model doesn't hide the propane tank inside like the newer ones after 2022. You gotta get the little propane Weber boot to make it pretty lol

For someone who hasn't been into grilling but want to get started, can you suggest if I should look for a grill or a griddle? It's been confusing, and many websites recommend a griddle for its versatility vs a grill. Would welcome any thoughts from this community that may help us make a decision. We aren't big meat eaters, so it's about enjoying time in backyard on weekend making both vegetarian and some meat dishes like burgers, grilled chicken, etc.
I prefer a grill. Great outdoor cooking requires grill marks. You get the combination of charred marks & juicy in-between. If you want full, flat char, you can get a simple cast iron griddle on top of the grates.

This is like saying the iPhone 10 is available cheaper than the iPhone 16.

Spirit is trash. If you're spending multiple hundreds on a gas Weber you should be buying the Genesis line.
I've had my Spirit for almost 15 years grilling every day almost, grill sits outside without any cover. No issues whatsoever. Stop being dramatic

The one for $700 is in store only and it is propane version only in Chicago land at least. I went to the store and asked for $700 natural gas version and the answer was 'no'.

Online you have the option to pick natural gas version or propane, but online price for both models seems to be $850.

I would personally just scour Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, and the side of the road for a 20 year old Weber. Replace any rusty parts and you've got a grill for about a tenth of the price that'll last every bit as long.

Unlike the claims from the person above me, I've had no issues with age with old Webers. My primary grill is a nearly 30 year old Genesis. It hasn't "rusted to pieces" like the guy above me is talking about. Maybe they just leave them out uncovered in the rain and snow for years and then get puzzled when rust forms?
