Can the handle be removed to use just as regular cordless drill? Looking to replace my aging cordless with something more powerful. Was leaning toward a Dewalt but the pricing for this makes it very tempting.
Current have old dated black and Decker and not invested in any ecosystem. Leaning toward a Dewalt or Ryobi.

Edit: Passed on the Ryobi and jumped on the Milwaukee M18 Set which gets very favorable reviews.

Yes you can remove the handle, though if you're going through anything other than wood you'll probably want it to avoid wrist trauma.

I just received this drill. Seems really nice however is the silver portion at the front of the chuck supposed to spin freely? Seems like a strange choice. Thanks!

Is this powerful enough for concrete or brick walls?
It should yes as the others have said, but also I've seen people reporting the smaller batteries don't work as well, so make sure you've got a high performance battery on hand for best results.

I have this same question! One I recently got from direct tools does the same thing. Seems very odd.

Thanks OP! Been eyeing it out for a while and this is a good price! Was able to order one and getting it delivered today. I won't open it until Ryobi day which is coming up next month (June) and if there is a price reduction then I'll return it and get the best price

If the same model goes on sale in Ryobi Days at a better price, you could repurchase a new one and just return that against the old receipt. Food for thought if you have an immediate need to use it.

Do you have the M12 hammer drill?
Im primarily Ryobi in the home shop but have a small M12 set up I use for jobs out of the house.
I owned this hammer drill, the Ryobi SDS, and the M12 hammer drill. Don't think this hammer drill is anything special tbh and I often just end up using the M12 because it's out in my tool bag already, or the SDS because if you actually need to drill a lot of concrete holes (racks, wall studs, anchor points) you absolutely want the most muscle you can get.
But ya if you only own 1 M18 tool and battery but multiples of Ryobi 18V and M12 fold that tool into another ecosystem.
I was gonna post a new message, but found someone else echoing my sentiment, anyone buying a hammer drill to drill into concrete, especially poured concrete, not just concrete block, an SDS drill is so much better. I bought the older model P222 18 volt Ryobi SDS drill that also includes a hammer-chisel mode, it is a beast! I have a good set of SDS drill bits, have not been stopped yet! Drilled 24 3/8" holes into 5" concrete slab to hold down a pavilion, worked like a dream!

first time it broke I returned to home depot

second time it broke I did the ryobi warranty

I would not recommend this specific tool.

Not sure really. Maybe because I'm a Pro member? Or maybe because some store(s) near me have it in stock for delivery? Try zip 27606
