Most shit from Amazon comes destroyed. Any food product in a box or bag is always crushed. Cans always dented. When you go to get a replacement it always says you can't because you can't return food. You have to get on chat and they always say something like "as a one time courtesy we will refund you for this" like they are doing you some kind of favor. Like no, your jackass company packed this like a bunch of idiots and the product got destroyed. It's on you. It's dumb.
Are the dented cans affecting quality somehow? I've never understood why a dented can is a big deal. It seems like that one scene from Big Daddy where it says "Dented cans are half price" really altered perceptions around a can being slightly dented.
Why? I would be rather surprised there are NO dents in cans when they are shipped around the country and handled by several different people/companies. As long as the can stays intact, I see no issue honestly. I've never had a dented can which made the product inside different at all.

I don't want to mess with a can opener on a can that's dinged on the top leaving an uneven surface. A lot of cans don't have an openable bottom seam as an alternative. And if the vertical seam is dented (you have to take the label off to check), I wouldn't eat whatever's inside with your mouth.
Other than those fairly rare occasions, a dented can is fine. In any case, don't let a dented can be part of your zombie apocalypse stash. Eat it as soon as possible.

I agree with you. First world problems. Ive ordered canned items from Amazon and never had an issue with quality inside or opening it. If one day it happens it'll be okay. 😂
To answer the dented can question:
A dented can, can potentially have Botulism. Being a chef and culinary instructor and teaching Servsafe, dented cans in the food industry are really a no no. We will send dented cans back. Not knowing how long the can has been dented, we send them back as a precaution because of the threat of Botulism. Granted, if I drop a can and dent it myself, I will make sure to use it ASAP to be safe. Just my .02.

This is the reason to avoid dented cans. You don't have any idea when it was dented. Maybe during shipping, maybe weeks or months ago.
I've ordered 3x canned items from Amazon and every order had dented cans. I received a refund, but also stopped ordering canned food from Amazon.

Yep, this is it. Most dented cans are safe, but if the dents compromise the seal in any way the food is no longer safe to eat. Since you can't tell for sure you are taking a risk any time you eat from a dented can.
That said, if the dent is minor and not near a seam I will still use it, especially with high acid food.
Stopped ordering canned goods. Keep getting stuff in just a plastic bag and all dinged up. Tired of it. Amz is useless for canned goods.
that is not bad compared to the glass bottle (salt) they shipped in the bag. I actually put my hand in it and pull the top of it out before realizing it shattered....Thankful I did get hurt. Amazon won't allow return on food. Before this, I bought 8 pack chocolate bars and they came all chalky and whitish...they agreed to refund me but never got it at all!

They CAN affect quality depending on where the dent is. Anything at the lid should be avoided because the seal could be broken. Obviously if it's dented so badly that the ends of the dents are pointy/sharp, that should also be avoided. Otherwise, you're good to go.
