Make sure the solar panel is at the best angle in your area and season. There are calculators you can search that give the best angle for your address or ZIP code.

I have 5 Ring cameras. Would it be better to replace and use these instead ? 2 of them get power from my flood light outlets, one from my doorbell, and 2 are rechargeable.

I replaced all my Wyze cams with these. They're legit good. I have my relatives getting in on the action, too.
how are these when compared to wyze? night and day quality on wyze (i have V3) is decent. are these way better?

Can you detach and install solar panel seperately?

Eufy products are almost all great....except. I have about 6 different products from them, different cameras and the doorbell. The solar works great. If the battery runs out on solar, the camera won't come back online until the internal battery charges to something like 50%. So Mr Los Angeles just needs to practice some patience.

However, I won't be buying Eufy any further. After installing a SSL MITM proxy to inspect inbound and outbound traffic in my network, I noticed one of my eufy cameras tries to check in with China. It has no reason to do this as I use RTSP to offload the video to, don't use push, and keep everything set locally. This is by and large a security issue. So while 5 of 6 products don't do this, one is one too many. The product that checks in to China was a floodlight cam 2.
What are you using to check?

Same question here hoping it's not something super complicated!

I had the v4 and v3 wyze. They weren't bad. They def got better over the years. The eufy is better quality most of the time. Stores locally on a home base and no subscriptions needed for features. Depending on the camera night quality sometimes isn't the best all the time on some eufy cameras.

The AI on both gives lots of false positives. Cross camera tracking is nice on eufy. Eufy also costs a lot more. For the most part I am happy with my switch from wyze

I have Wyze, Ring and these all running at my house right now. Putting aside the solar panel issues, these have the best picture quality and have the zoom. Wyze are reliable and with the SD cards they are the closest to being like a hardwired system and being able to scrub through video. I have Amazon Echo Hubs around the house and the Rings work best with them where you can create a camera grid like a hardwired system has which updates thumbnails every minute. I am however about to install hard wired POE camera with an NVR with lots of storage because I want something that anyone in the house can watch easily and can scrub through footage if needed and can store footage for months if needed. I want to be able to go back two months if someone claimed something happened at one of my properties or be able to get license plate detail if someone happened on my street.
Also Eufy is coming out with their own NVR camera system with basically this camera with an additional fixed lens above it that is POE and has AI so you will always have a fixed view and also be able to pan, tilt and zoom with the other part of the camera. I preordered it with the discount just in case I decide to buy it.

I have an older model from 4 years ago with a solar panel mini-usb. Mounted both, doesn't keep the camera charged worth a !@#$%. I have never models with the built in solar panels and, as long as I mount them where they get regular sun exposure (midwest, can be dreary for weeks to months in depth of winter), they're little powerhouses. Can ignore folks that question longevity above. They either mounted it in shade or use an old version. Input should not apply with this product.

I have the original Eufy cams (from their Kickstarter) and those cameras were always late to start recording when triggered. I've been hesitant to buy Eufy cameras after this. Is late recording still an issue with the new lines of Eufy cameras?

I bought 5-6 Eufy cams over the last few years. They're generally good, but two of the more expensive ones I have both failed a few months out of warranty and I was told 'tough luck' from customer service, so I think I'm done with Eufy/Anker for cams.
