Playing it on game pass, Xbox and PC, with cloud save can pick up progress on either platform, though have been playing in performance mode on xbox and I don't feel as if I'm losing anything compared to PC.
So..I've never even cared for turn-based games or long rpg games other than the third person shooter types, but I'm hooked on this game.

Firstly, visuals and art AND the music scores. Then there's the build up, and story. Then comes the exploration of all the scene scapes, combat, enemy variation, and boss battles. Combat system enstills just the right amount of frustration and will to persevere. Keep trying to win a boss battle, or reskill, reperk, or reevaluate your starting line up to take on those foes.

This game is a spring 2025 must play. Only reason I have any chance to play it is the late night shift holding newborn asleep while on paternity leave but I'm so glad for its release timing... the baby but also the game 😅

Totally agree.

This is probably the only turn-based JRPG(ish) game I've ever cared to play; about 8 hours in and absolutely love the game. I've dipped the difficulty a handful of times when I got stuck on a difficult enemy, but otherwise am playing on the intended difficulty and have gotten the hang of it. You don't have to "grind", so much as you need to figure out your enemies attacks and the timing of blocking/countering, since each enemy and each attack has a sweet-spot. It's a bit complicated, but many RPGs are.. I'm getting the hang of it.

Story is great, voice-acting is fantastic.. can't wait for the work week to end so I can get back to it.

Does anyone know if you can move your game saves from Game Pass to Steam on PC? I've been playing the game on game pass but would like to support the developers so was just wondering.

Holy cow, I didn't realize you could cross play with cloud save so I haven't even tried. Would love to just chill in front of the TV at night and play a bit, then pick it up on my PC over the weekend. I have to admit, though, that I'm using a mod on PC that extends the parry window to something more manageable for me, and I wonder if/how that can be applied on XBOX.

This isn't just my GOTY 2025, it's going to be one of the GOAT's. I don't think I've been this moved, surprised, emotional, and thrilled by a game for the past 10 years. For me, it's going to be among the all time greats like Witcher 3, FF7 (when it was first released), GOW 2018. The level of storytelling, character development, dialogue and script, battle mechanics, music, graphics is beyond what I can imagine a game could achieve. It goes even beyond gaming, but even as a form of media comparing to some of the greatest movies. It really makes me appreciate media as a whole, how much impact it can have on you. I've always had a love for games, but for the past 5 of so years, nothing really absorbed me into the game as much as E33 does. I'm so glad when a game like this came along and I'm able to be part of the community to enjoy it. Just the other day, walking through Sirene I just looked around everywhere and let myself be floored by the creativity of the design. As I got closer to the boss, you can hear her singer louder and louder. The flow of the music, and the atmosphere the game created... it's seriously otherworldly. Same goes with the Flying Water area, when you're walking through this beautiful area with all kinds of marine animals swimming overhead, and then all the sudden something that resembles an enormous snake comes out of nowhere to remind you of the dangers of this world. It reminds me of this anime called Made in Abyss which is one of my all time greats too. I don't know how can anyone seriously trash on this game except if they're trolling. I really feel sad for them that they're not able to enjoy such a triumph of achievement in gaming.

Just FWIW Instant gaming is deemed a key shop by gg.deals and Reddit gives this site a worse review than other sites. Great game well worth the $40 from the more reputable sites.

Nope. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is the front runner. It just has such an insane level of detail and amount of things you can do, plus great gameplay and a great story.

Downvote all you want. I'm right. I got all but one small indie game right last year. I'll be right again this year. This is a great game, but this year is all about Kingdom Come.
That game is way too niche to win, sorry.

An 88 on Metacritic...KCD2 probably won't even be in the running. Clair Obscur has a 92 AND a 9.7 user score. Small indie development team, $50 price tag, and a damn good story -- this is what the game industry needs to look at as a master-class for success.

I'd gladly pay triple this price. I was skeptical of the hyper, but everything everyone says is true; it's absolutely the best game that has come out in at least a decade.

hm... The game is VERY hard. Easy mode I would say is 'normal' and can still be very difficult. If you have a hard time parrying, you will get destroyed.

Game is probably 8/10 if you include its flaws. If you give it a pass on the flaws, its 10/10. Acting/cinematics are awesome. Story is one of the best you'll find. I am near the end btw.
You must be doing something wrong. So far it has been pretty easy. Now Wukong was hard (bosses)

must buy if you are a fan of the classic JRPGs. reminds me a lot of FFX but more tailored for modern gaming and jumps right into story/action and never stops.

I remember when FFVII Rebirth came out last year at the end of February and people were prematurely crowning it GOTY 2024...
It is WAY too early to be crowning any game GOTY. And why does it matter if it wins GOTY or not? It won't make the game better or change the current trajectory of the gaming industry. And it's not like you have to choose between playing this game or playing another GOTY contender (I've already played MHW and Split Fiction).

That said, the game is great and worth it at full price.
