This will probably win GOTY.
Playing it on game pass, Xbox and PC, with cloud save can pick up progress on either platform, though have been playing in performance mode on xbox and I don't feel as if I'm losing anything compared to PC.
So..I've never even cared for turn-based games or long rpg games other than the third person shooter types, but I'm hooked on this game.

Firstly, visuals and art AND the music scores. Then there's the build up, and story. Then comes the exploration of all the scene scapes, combat, enemy variation, and boss battles. Combat system enstills just the right amount of frustration and will to persevere. Keep trying to win a boss battle, or reskill, reperk, or reevaluate your starting line up to take on those foes.

This game is a spring 2025 must play. Only reason I have any chance to play it is the late night shift holding newborn asleep while on paternity leave but I'm so glad for its release timing... the baby but also the game 😅
What a pleasant surprise this game is. Also on game pass on Xbox and PC, just fyi.

Yahtzee likes it despite some good criticism.

Honestly I'm past must play game of the year. I loved witcher/fallout/farcry/doom/just cause/black flag. Own many of the latest in the series and many more most for $10 or less. And the last thing I finished was Skyrim... The most recent thing I bought was horizon zero dawn from a sale on here and haven't touched it. Its been a while. An amazing backlog I'll never get too.

Witcher 3 is 10 years old.... This is making me aittle sad

Game of the year? LMAO. Not a chance. I couldn't complete more than 6 hours. Turn-based combat is slow, boring, and not for everyone. Sorry, I don't have 2-3 business days to complete one lame battle.... just to walk three feet and have to do it again. And the musical score can only be described as PAINFUL after an hour. It sounds like you're at a fine dining restaurant with an annoying pianist who won't STFU. Graphics? You mean, stiff animations and lifeless facial expressions and the worst hair in any game in the last decade. Hard pass on this one. I cant wait to stop hearing about this game, with its paid-for reviews and fake hype.
Boring troll is boring. (And it's clear you didn't actually play it based on the content of your complaints)

just happened in the forgotten battlefield. I really like the game, but when i go exploring I can never find my way back. A few times I even got back to the beginning of the level because much of the levels different areas look identical to the previous area.
So I understand the desire for a map, I can't pretend it wouldn't make it easier, but it was an intentional design decision and wasn't done arbitrarily. I'll take the Forgotten Battlefield for example. The Doorway you walk through when entering the battlefield is visible from everywhere on the map. So when you're exploring, you can look up and see where you are in relation to it to help orient yourself. And every level has highly visible landmarks (Giant Nevrons, Floating Debris, Etc.) that serve the same purpose. They wanted players to have the same sense of exploration such a group would have if dropped there like that and I think they've over compensated enough with the scenery to balance that.

Been playing this... my first JRPG because I refuse to play any where the weapons are larger & heavier than the wielder - which is pretty much all of them. So far I really like it. There are definitely some frustrating things about it, that might just have to do with this genre of game, like when you walk up to one antagonist and then when it comes to the battle, there are 3 all of the sudden. However the music is great, beautiful world, the story intriguing, and the turn-based mechanics require some actual thought. I definitely plan to finish it but man, would I have liked to be able to explore the world fully from the 1st person POV.
Agreed! Re: First Person. ;P

This game is well made. But I will warn: Most of the characters are female. There are really only two male characters and they both may as well be female. Every character is super feminine. The game is clearly written by women or "allies." It's kind of amusing how there are all these super intense battles but the cutscenes are everyone talking about their feelings and being sensitive.
"Warn"? Of what? Most games have a mostly male cast. Is this somehow a problem that they're not being generic and boring? O.o

Nothing makes ME laugh harder than people who have no idea how the world works. Let me educate you. Small studios use sponsorship deals and pay creators a flat fee to play or talk about their game in a stream. They also give out free keys and early access. They also may engage directly with niche influencers. This happens every day. And the game is nowhere as good as the basement dwellers online are trying to make it appear. Hope that helps.

Do u think this thread is full of basement dwellers? Its literally overwhelmingly positive, as are reviews.

Either this world is filled with basement dwellers galore or some one just has really shit taste.

I haven't even finished yet on PS5 but I'm double dipping on PC jus to see what it looks like.

A lot of people have "Girl boss" fatigue in media. Mary-sue's that can do anything and everything with no real faults. This game not only has that, in spades, its male cast members are extremely effeminate. Maybe because it was made in france?

I'm not telling people not to play it. I'm just warning potential buyers of this because I can see it turning some off.
Vs the normal man boss? Like what even in the **** is wrong with people. Why should anyone care about this type of crap?

What a weird take. I've played games as a virus trying to kill everyone, as a stray cat, as an orc, a panda, an elf, a dragon, a spaceship, an alien, a robot, etc. I also played games as soldiers for the Allies, Axis, and terrorist organizations, as superheroes, as villains, and as criminals of all kinds. One of the first PC games I bought (the first Tomb Raider) had a female lead character.

I'm not sure who the snowflakes are that would be offended or put off by female characters in a video game, but they're missing out on great games if that's a criteria they judge a game by.

The last tomb raider trilogy is some of my favorite games.

I already said I'm enjoying the game but I just found some of the story and character stuff odd. Some people might find it as a real turn off. I don't know how to explain without ruining the story.

There is actually only one male character in the game at a time. Two total. They are both VERY effeminate. All of the other characters are female. and they are all tougher, stronger, and generally have more masculine traits than the man. If you love that, then great. Some might not.

Like 3 women and one man in a heavy story-based game. The man is the most feminine out of all of them.

If that blows your skirt up, great. I can still look past it and enjoy the game. But it's weird, and might really bother some.

This is an amazing deal for this game. I may get it if I can find a way to transfer my save from gamepass to steam. It will be much easier to deal with the files on steam if this game gets mods
there is def a way to do this. i did it with yakuza like a dragon before. i think theres a youtube video showing where you can find the file and convert it to a steam save. i forgot the exact method since it's been a couple years, but there's def a way.

And the people it bothers need to take a long hard look at themselves and figure out why a fictional story would bother them in that way.
