Playing it on game pass, Xbox and PC, with cloud save can pick up progress on either platform, though have been playing in performance mode on xbox and I don't feel as if I'm losing anything compared to PC.
So..I've never even cared for turn-based games or long rpg games other than the third person shooter types, but I'm hooked on this game.

Firstly, visuals and art AND the music scores. Then there's the build up, and story. Then comes the exploration of all the scene scapes, combat, enemy variation, and boss battles. Combat system enstills just the right amount of frustration and will to persevere. Keep trying to win a boss battle, or reskill, reperk, or reevaluate your starting line up to take on those foes.

This game is a spring 2025 must play. Only reason I have any chance to play it is the late night shift holding newborn asleep while on paternity leave but I'm so glad for its release timing... the baby but also the game 😅

Nope. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is the front runner. It just has such an insane level of detail and amount of things you can do, plus great gameplay and a great story.

Downvote all you want. I'm right. I got all but one small indie game right last year. I'll be right again this year. This is a great game, but this year is all about Kingdom Come.
I really like KC2, but this has the nostalgia buttons and the underdog hype behind it, imo, to push it to the win. Does KC2 deserve it? Probably. But, these award shows are not always about who deserves it. I actually think they both deserve it, but only 1 can win.

Also, we still have half a year to go before they finalize picks. So, who knows what surprises are yet to be seen.

Playing this on game pass and it's good for free. It's so hyped, but realistically it is decent. 20/30$ is about right. Credit for the small dev team.

Game of the year? LMAO. Not a chance. I couldn't complete more than 6 hours. Turn-based combat is slow, boring, and not for everyone. Sorry, I don't have 2-3 business days to complete one lame battle.... just to walk three feet and have to do it again. And the musical score can only be described as PAINFUL after an hour. It sounds like you're at a fine dining restaurant with an annoying pianist who won't STFU. Graphics? You mean, stiff animations and lifeless facial expressions and the worst hair in any game in the last decade. Hard pass on this one. I cant wait to stop hearing about this game, with its paid-for reviews and fake hype.
Nothing makes me laugh harder than the idea that some random small studio is paying for reviews when you also have tons of people who somehow also believe in the "Xbox tax". Because Sandfall Interactive surely paid for their game to be the highest rated of the year when the literal most valuable company in the history of mankind often can't scare up more than a 7 for their biggest games. Forza Horizon has it in its budget to pay for 9s and 10s I guess, Starfield not so much.

For real though what about this game isn't amazing? I'm only an hour and a half in. Graphics are stunning, music is deep and moving, story starts off strong and emotional. Turn based combat is fun with some dynamic features. Each character is unique. It feels like playing an old ps1/2 jrpg for the modern day

no way kcd 2 wins. I dont even think it gets nominated let alone win it. We have doom, death stranding 2, ghost of yotei still to come
Don't forget Split Fiction. For me it's either this game or that one, and they're both only $50 msrp it's crazy.

You must be doing something wrong. So far it has been pretty easy. Now Wukong was hard (bosses)
Nope, it's just painfully difficult.

Holy cow, I didn't realize you could cross play with cloud save so I haven't even tried. Would love to just chill in front of the TV at night and play a bit, then pick it up on my PC over the weekend. I have to admit, though, that I'm using a mod on PC that extends the parry window to something more manageable for me, and I wonder if/how that can be applied on XBOX.
Every parry window is somewhere inside where the sound cue is playing, turning up audio and paying attention to it has helped my parry game enormously - fights against new enemies are going a lot smoother after I realized that.

Nothing makes ME laugh harder than people who have no idea how the world works. Let me educate you. Small studios use sponsorship deals and pay creators a flat fee to play or talk about their game in a stream. They also give out free keys and early access. They also may engage directly with niche influencers. This happens every day. And the game is nowhere as good as the basement dwellers online are trying to make it appear. Hope that helps.

Best purchase you will make all year. I've already beaten this once and will definitely play again this year. GOTY or riot.

Yahtzee likes it despite some good criticism.

Penny arcade likes it. See related comics

Honestly I'm past must play game of the year. I loved witcher/fallout/farcry/doom/just cause/black flag. Own many of the latest in the series and many more most for $10 or less. And the last thing I finished was Skyrim... The most recent thing I bought was horizon zero dawn from a sale on here and haven't touched it. Its been a while. An amazing backlog I'll never get too.

Witcher 3 is 10 years old.... This is making me aittle sad

It's gotten a lot of hype but I don't think I'm going to finish it. The story has taken way too long to really get going and I've kind of lost interest. The combat is just OK. The environments look nice but the levels are pretty linear. Games have gotten so bad that a fairly mid game like this is being raved about. Sad times.
I think this is a bot, I've seen this exact nonsense almost word for word elsewhere.
