It's been this price 🤔 personally, I'm waiting for prime day to see if it goes lower.
My wife and I both got Scribes and now don't even bother with our regular Kindles anymore. They're like ebook reading for ants!
I'm not sure about the contrast but it's really just underwhelming. You think you'd read more Graphic Novels or something on it, but the size is just too small. The whole thing just didn't work for me, so I returned it and got the new kindle. Until they come out with a colored Scribe, it's useless.

I read that the contrast isn't great on the blacks compared to regular B&W models. Can anyone confirm this?

I'd like it in the larger scribe size before I bite. It'll probably be a few years before that happens.

I'd be surprised if it was actually light enough to hold like the feature image depicts.

It's 7.7oz. A whopping .2 oz over the paperwhite. If not, you may want to get a fitness regimen going, stat.

I tried the Colorsoft on a similar deal and decided to return it. The display/text seemed grainy compared to an Oasis or PaperWhite. I had read the colors were muted from reviews and was prepared to accept that, but could not accept the worse reading experience in black and white.

At the next family reunion, I'd make sure you're on the other team for tug of war.

Love my scribe. The only time I pull out my old Oasis is if I'm reading by the pool.

It's a very minor difference. You see it only when the backlight is off. When the backlight is ON, you can get them to the same contrast.

I had the latest paperwhite. I got the colorsoft and spent some time comparing the two. I had thought that the colorsoft would be much more grainier and worse than paperwhite. But frankly I could hardly discern any difference. Not enough to be practically relevant anyway. Remember that it's still double the resolution of the Kindle Oasis. Any difference in sharpness from paperwhite is really splitting hairs at that point. You are mostly going to be reading text after all. It's perfectly fine for that.

In the end, I returned the paperwhite and kept the colorsoft.

I bought a 2018 paperwhite from woot for $25 recently and love it. But the backlight, even when OFF seems to present a slightly less contrast image than my 2012 kindle. At night it's great with the light, but during the day it's not as good as my old Kindle. I've been wondering when we'd see a good color kindle, I hate reading on my tablet with the screen messing with my eyes, but for comics it needs to have the zoom feature easy to use.
I bet if they sell enough, we see improvements yearly, but I don't think many people read anymore. They want these 1 minute articles on their phones.
