I bought a TCL deal from Costco, and bought my MIL this On last time it was up (I think around $210) the TCL has been the biggest trash I have ever bought and that cheap ass roku onn TV is working better, faster and less complications than mine.

I will never in my life by a tcl. Got my mom two tcls... They all dired the same way. Just garbage.

I got her an onn TV and it is good. Cheap brands for me Re onn and insignia. Shoot I seems like I get my mom a TV every year... She has 5 tvs... The stupid Toshiba one I got has turned bluish... So I guess I will get her this tv..

I bought a 70" Onn/Roku 3-4 years ago on a BF deal and it has been solid. Never issues.

I have this tv and it has been working great. I bought it as a cheap tv for my bedroom and have had 0 issues. The wifi in my experience for Roku is not very strong so I suggest using an Android tv box plugged into it if you have issues.

Roku doesn't let you install certain apps like stremio. They also will delete stuff like that off your tv. I have a tcl Google TV, and it's fine. I went to dev debug mode also and disabled all animations to speed it up.tcl S470G for 175 with taxes a year ago. It's still quicker than our old crystal HD samsung from 2022. Roku is smooth, but pick your poison.

yeah onn/TCL is hit or miss. Prolly quality control. Ive seen some with absolutely zero issues still going strong today and then seen 2 of them die within days.

Returning something bulky like a tv is a PITA but walmart is more or less like amazon where if you wre within the time frame to return, its no questions asked.

Warranty route - thats a pita.

This is alot of TV for the buck... but will it last forever or die 2 days after the return period? Either could totally happen.

So say like you go thu the hassle of warranty/return. You get a new tv or money back. You spend like a total of 5 hours of the whole complete process back and forth bullshit (explain to dumb people, taking the setup apart, packing it, driving it to the store etc etc) - You make what like $40 and hr? You just did $200 worth of work for a $178 TV.

Basically this fits the bill for a "throw away" TV if it dies. Roll the dice? I just might.

Have a couple tcl TVs from before 2020 . They've become somewhat laggy but no major issues.would you consider Hisense similar quality level? Also have those

In general I would recommend hisense over this brand. For the lag problem that is generally due to the onboard of the roku or whatever shit filing up with memory. A factory reset generally can fix it but you have to go re-setup all your junk.
