It's not all about raw speed. Wifi6 vs 5:

• Handles more devices simultaneously through improved MU-MIMO technology, letting routers talk to 8 devices at once (vs 4 in WiFi 5)

• Reduces battery drain on connected devices through Target Wake Time (TWT), which lets devices sleep more efficiently

• Better performance in crowded areas like apartments or offices due to BSS Coloring, which reduces interference from neighboring networks

• Lower latency for gaming and real-time applications through OFDMA technology, which divides channels into smaller sub-channels

• Improved security with mandatory WPA3 encryption (optional in WiFi 5)

• Better beamforming capabilities to focus signals directly to devices instead of broadcasting in all directions

• 160MHz channel utilization (vs 80MHz in WiFi 5) for more efficient data transmission even when not at max speeds
+1000 to this. Had these and they constantly died.

Just get some refurb Eeros from Amazon (what I ended up doing) which are sorta close to this price point for a single unit, and you'll never have to think about your wifi again

(PS not an ad for them, just a longtime Eero user/fan)
Even if these were FREE it would not be worth the hassle. Awful product and I am sorry I own these. Don't take my word for it, read the thousands of 1 star reviews on google play explaining how the app is total trash and doesn't let you configure these.... and when/if you did get them configured, your coverage is spotty and unreliable.

Save yourself the headache

These are using 9W power each when idle, so roughly cost $30 a year to run. Not a biggie but my Omada AP uses less than half of that.
your omada ap uses less than 5w?
dual band?

Please do yourself a favor and stay far away from this product. I purchased 4 of those to have full mesh coverage and they were ALL garbage. Believe the other comments that mention constant disconnects. Furthermore the mesh is not functional. I had a laptop 1 foot from the primary node and for some reason that laptop kept trying to connect to the other nodes and would constantly drop the connection. It would not keep wireless printers connected either. Trust me, I tried to convince myself and my family that it was an upgrade from the TP-Link Deco M9 I had previously. Ran this for about 9 months with OpenWRT and stock firmware and was hated the entire time!!! I replaced with a single Asus RT-AX82U and has been rock solid, and better coverage!

What's the real world benefit of newer standards? Bigger numbers, but most households aren't taking advantage of these upgrades. This is a great deal for most people.

FWIW these don't have a dedicated wireless backhaul (dual band vs tri band) and have 2 LAN ports.

That said, I have had great speed and reliability using a 4 node AX4200 refurb I got from Amazon last year. I am connected to an AT&T fiber gateway and have regularly been getting 750mbps on a 500mbps plan.

Coverage (4500ft²) has vastly improved vs. the AT&T BG320 router/modem. Running a guest network (IoT) and main network with roughly 40 clients.

I initially had some drops on my phone, but those were due to user error and have cleared up since adjusting the private DNS settings on my device.

I also really like that I can manage everything locally without installing an app or creating a cloud account. Huge win there.

This set would be fine for folks that just care about coverage and have a sub gig plan. $9 a node is a great price.

these look like the much slower cousin of what I own which are just amazing:
Linksys LN1301-MX4200_MX4300_MX4301_AX4200 ; paid $20 brand new for each node.
Yeah, I got a few of those last time they were on woot. $5 off coupon got the first one down to $15.

Took a couple of tries for the child to mesh up but it's been flawless since.

Averaging about 4W actually. Dual band, 4 networks, ~10 devices always on, Covering bit over 2K sq ft, and good size property around, uses supplied POE injector.

To answer your question one possible benefit would be additional channels/frequencies for people in dense areas. If you have 100 networks in range on 2.4 or 5 you may only have a couple using 6 as not many people/providers have adopted Wifi 6e/7 yet.

While wifi 5 has theoretically enough bandwidth for a gigabit connection, in real world speeds it may not be able to achieve those speeds when factoring in distance and obstructions.

Later wifi models will have better antenna technology and will be able to support more devices connected at once as well.

There are many benefits but this does seem like a good deal for some people.

Dont even bother buying e-waste when wifi 6/6e/7 mesh systems are here and some sub $100 already brandnew.
You have no clue how slow or shitty internet can be in rural America. There's no point in Wifi 6 for those folks.

Eero has a horrible UI that only exists as an app but as far as speed, coverage, and reliability it's frickin awesome. Really wish it had an old school web-based UI for doing fancy things.

So These are not the same as the woot deal a few months ago that had over 100 + comments for $20 a piece? I still have those haven't setup yet in box. Are those better than these?

I have an earlier version of these, I am pretty happy with them though I now have them hard wired. The wireless speed seems to be about 20-30% lower when not wired and running from a secondary node. Though they are a bit fiddly to set up, they are very consistent once the initial setup is done.

I have the more expensive version of this, 3 nodes paid almost $200 a couple of months ago. It's fast but it needs to be reset multiple times a week as the signal gets inconsistent.

same here. I recently got 500Mbps fiber installed and my OG eeros are giving me 250Mbps+ on wifi and 400Mbps+ wired. Good enough for my 26 devices :-)
