Absolute steal, cheaper than Microcenter. Better CPU than a 9900x while costing less. While there are better esports gaming CPUs for low resolutions with low settings, once you go to 1080p ultra or 1440p or 4k, youre mostly GPU bottlenecked even with a 4090 except in some games.
Definitely worth getting at this price.

Indeed. Though if you are like me and your cpu upgrade cadence is long enough that you will require a new mobo with AMD either way, then it doesn't matter

You're talking a year, minimum. Maybe a year and a half. And what's the price then? Someone needing to upgrade now would be fine here. A 3-5 year CPU cycle puts you in the 2nd or 3rd generation on the 1954 socket and any DDR5 parts would transfer over fine.
I'm on a 12700k. Can I make it another year and a half? Yeah. The stuff I do and games I play are fine with a 7800xt GPU and I have a DDR4 board. When I need to upgrade, I have to upgrade several components. But if you're sitting 10th, 11th gen -- you might be well ready for an update today that will carry you another 5 years.

Exactly why I moved on from Intel. And I own their stock.

Seems to be less capable than the 9900X slightly due to threads, but it's a good deal for a modern intel chip that hopefully won't destroy itself. However, the next batch of chips will be on another socket and will prevent upgrading. You pay less now but will have to rebuild sooner.

It's cheaper than 9900x then performance is almost the same for 4K gaming. I got it before with only $230 at Microcenter.

If you upgrade your computer every year, Intel is very bad.

Not surprised. A lot of AMD fanboys here. You buy the best cpu for your need and admit it, AMD sucks at a lot of stuff while excels in others. Same goes for Intel. Everyone read their needs and use case.

The problem is motherboard..... and then you're also often stuck with ATX due to the price.
