Sure you can spend more for form factor. It worked for Apple. Many people prefer form over function. We all get to make our choices. I'm not saying you are wrong. I'm just saying what works for me and how I prefer to spend my money.

actually on ebay the two seperate items as refurb are $350 + $350 so new is just $100 more

And if so, is there a loss of efficiency? Because there's no loss with the extra battery.
If not, then you're missing the point of an extra battery.

For me, the problem with the proprietary ecoflow battery is it can only be used and only be charged with the ecoflow generator. It doesn't have any other way to get power out of it. I personally have a couple of 12.8v 100 amp hour LiFePO4's in addition to my generators. I can use them with any solar generator if the power goes out (or camping), and I use them with a trolling motor as I mentioned. Both batteries together cost me less than one ecoflow extra battery, provide more runtime in an outage, and offer more utility. They just don't "match" aesthetically. I'm okay with that.

LiFePO4 100 ah batteries weigh less than 25 pounds so they are easy to bring camping. I don't know why you think they wouldn't cut it. They take up less space than the ecoflow extra battery for one with the same watt hours.
