I think pricing extra batteries the same as the base unit is ridiculous. Just buy another Delta 2 at that price. It's not even smaller. For me unless it's the Max battery at that price it's not a slick deal.

The extra batteries are terrible deals. Just buy any other regular LiFePO4 battery for half as much and a cheap XT60i cable to plug it into the solar ports on the back. You get more capacity for cheaper that way, and you can use the battery with any power station, inverter, or as a trolling motor battery for your boat, etc.

Can they be daisy chained to double the capacity like the extra battery can?

And if so, is there a loss of efficiency? Because there's no loss with the extra battery.

If not, then you're missing the point of an extra battery.

While true, you're mostly paying for the form factor. They stack neatly and can be strapped together to form one unit.

Know of any LiFePO4s with built in handles?

I searched "lifepo4 battery" on Amazon just now and more than half have handles. You can get them in whatever size you need, and at higher than 12v if you want.
For me, the problem with the proprietary ecoflow battery is it can only be used and only be charged with the ecoflow generator. It doesn't have any other way to get power out of it. I personally have a couple of 12.8v 100 amp hour LiFePO4's in addition to my generators. I can use them with any solar generator if the power goes out (or camping), and I use them with a trolling motor as I mentioned. Both batteries together cost me less than one ecoflow extra battery, provide more runtime in an outage, and offer more utility. They just don't "match" aesthetically. I'm okay with that.

You mean those dinky straps?

I don't think there's much overlap in getting a bare terminal battery and finding an appropriate project box versus buying something a little more form fit.

All the battery boxes I've found are just repurposed ammo boxes, which leave a lot to be desired.

Maybe that will change when carbon 3D printers get more popular. But it's still a project.

You're making it more complicated than it needs to be. You don't need a battery box. You attach something like this [amazon.com] to the battery, and that can plug into something like this [amazon.com] to connect to the power station, or into a similar plug in your solar array or battery charger to top off the battery after you use it. I put the same plug end on my boat motor. Other people use them to charge drones or RC cars. Don't need a separate power station for DC-DC applications.
Sure you can spend more for form factor. It worked for Apple. Many people prefer form over function. We all get to make our choices. I'm not saying you are wrong. I'm just saying what works for me and how I prefer to spend my money.

You're looking at different use cases where form doesn't matter as much.

For in home use or camping, bare batteries aren't going to cut it.

Works fine for me for both in home use and camping. In home the batteries literally sit still in a utility closet. The EcoFlow Delta 3 Plus sits there too. In the event of a power outage I have extension cords to run the sump pit, (gas) hot water heater, refrigerator, and my (gas) furnace blower/logic board.
LiFePO4 100 ah batteries weigh less than 25 pounds so they are easy to bring camping. I don't know why you think they wouldn't cut it. They take up less space than the ecoflow extra battery for one with the same watt hours.

IPX ratings, ease of use, and general prevention of people mucking around all come to mind.

Also, what about needing to grab and go in an emergency?
