Does it do the job for $20 or should I go with a Bosch or Leica one?

it works pretty decent and is tiny, but screen is fuzzy --matte finished plastic and not very bright backlit matrix behind it.

I misread the one post saying 131ft as 13ft and thought "who needs this to measure stuff that small?"

I'm usually a hyper-neophile who always buys the smart version of everything, but I bought myself a Bosch for this one.
The internal lithium battery will be dead in five years, with the Bosch I can upgrade the batteries, rechargeable AAs are probably going to keep improving.
Also, I'm clumsy and like rugged cases, and Bosch seems more trustworthy for accuracy.
I do wish it had an angle meter builtin, but I don't know if this one does either, and a lot of the time you want to measure with respect to something other than gravity.

HD has one that probably is much more rugged for a similar price

Have this one, and I definitely like it, bought it with a coupon which out it at $30, so for $20 I absolutely recommend it. I wouldn't ever pay full price for it since it has limitations. Such as it isn't waterproof & can't be used outside during the day. The point is too difficult to make out at 40+ ft in the sunlight (even indirect sunlight). But it's accurate, the Bluetooth connects to my Samsung A71 5g & my Ulefone Armor 24 without any problems & the app is pretty neat & easy to use. Just keep in mind that it's limited to indoors for the most part & also it lacks water resistance. 🤙
