This is closer to the 4800 than the 3800 is imo.
A1EVO and Dirac are a good match with this imo.
If this was new I would seriously consider trading out my 3800 for it!
lol I chuckle when people say it's been $10 cheaper meh no deal! ðŸ¤
As an upgrade, very unlikely worth the cost imo.

In basic terms they are considered a premium brand/model over Denon.
That difference usually comes at an extra cost.
No different than say Yamaha's V series vs A series.
Whether it's worth the cost is based on personal prioritized factors and individual choice.

Edit: 1 year… meh. Anyone ever use the CPS extended warranties? I have a hard time trusting 3rd party warranties
Luckily with the advent of A1EVO, Dirac isn't that advantages anymore.
Especially when you consider the cost!
It's nice knowing you have the option if you choose to want it though.
No other brands offer that.
* Very slow to boot (sometimes 5-10 seconds before you have sound)
* Does not work well with HDMI output from a PC - would not detect signal, loose it, would not reconnect. You have to power it off and on to fix the problem. This could be nvidia problem though, but I do not have this problem when connected directly to a TV

Marantz AVRs are tuned to have a warmer sound. So if you want something that more neutral, then you would want the Denon.
I had a Pioneer Elite SC 87(wouldnt pass 4k), that I replaced with a Marantz SR7013. IMO, the Pioneer sounded better.
