Or, just use stereo sound so, none of that BULL SHIT. It's so unnecessarily convoluted. The stupidest way to squeeze consumers.
Right!!!! Who needs all that surround sound, room correction, etc BS!!!
Most displays have stereo sound, just use that!!!!
Heck DVD outsells Blu Ray & UHD combined for a reason!!!

A discounted Denon 3800 is a better buy in the States vs the Cinema 50. I know you don't want to believe it but they are clones (and not the 4800). Here's an overseas example:

Marantz Cinema 50 in Germany MSRP is 2000€
https://www.marantz.com/de-de/pro...olor=Black

Denon 3800 in Germany MSRP is 1700€
https://www.denon.com/de-de/produ...3800H.html

Since the 4800 retails for 2600€ in Germany, do you still think the Cinema 50 is the "premium version of the 4800"?!!!
https://www.denon.com/de-de/produ...4800H.html

As I said in a prior post, only in the US would folks get duped into overpaying for Marantz equivalents!

Grabbed this last week and it arrived yesterday. No issues other than it's been refurbed by Marantz thus the price being half of it new. Still wilded out that it's $700 cheaper than the refurbs on Marantz's site and it hasn't caught fire yet so that's good I suppose.

People pay extra for things they believe in all the time.

As you can see, I'm not the one telling people what is "better".
I'm just giving my impression from actual comparison.

For me personal comparison is mandatory & most important.

If you choose to rely on reading, that's completely your prerogative!
I'm not trying to convince you to believe my belief, that would be silly!

I would agree.
I know 3 that took advantage of this in the past for the higher price of course, with zero issues so far.
Ironically they upgraded from prior Marantz units never needing the 5 year warranty!

Big fan of Marantz (which IIRC are engineered slightly differently to Denon for warmer sound, espeiclaly for 2-channel music, and higher continuous power) and I'm also a big fan of A4L, from which I've bought all my Marantz amps refurbished over the years and not had a single problem.

There's nothing wrong with paying extra. Someone even made the very good comparison that Marantz is the "Acura" to Denon's "Honda". This is a perfect comparison since the premium for Marantz above Denon appears to be ~18% outside of the US. Within the US, the Marantz premium is nearly 50% more than the Denon equivalent! That's like paying for Mercedes but getting Honda guts!

I disagree there is no "good comparison" when it comes to what we hear, it's completely subjective.

Especially when you often have people going strictly on reading! 🤔

If BB had this new for $1050 as your pal turnne claimed(no luck here), I've likely would have upgraded my $1k 3800!

Remind me again why I would be "wrong" in doing that?

There's nothing wrong with that. Perhaps you prefer the "warm sound" of the Marantz. In that case, you can always EQ that in since that's what Marantz is doing (I just saved you quite a bit of money):

Just Google:

"This is the first time Marantz subtly/virtually/sort of/almost/vaguely, admitted the so called/claimed "Marantz sound" (presumably the warm sound) is due to the DAC filter, as it rolls off the high frequencies."

and go to post #1391!

Hmmm so I should go by reading and ignore personal comparison from listening! 🤔

$50 is "quite a bit of money"!🤔

I will admit a benefit of going by reading.
I could just get the Integra3.4 for $569 and just EQ it to sound like the Marantz!

That would definitely save someone "quite a bit of money"!

Unfortunately that's not for me, I'll just have to stick with my "wrong" opinion! 🤷🏻 ♂️

How is this unit compared to the pioneer elite vsx-lx505. I can get that for $650.

Basically selecting the dac filter for minimum phase/slow roll off on marantz versus linear phase/sharp on denon..
