Is the big issue with M3 vs M4 (aside from slower processor) that M3 only supports 1 external monitor (while MacBook is open), while M4 supports 2 external monitors (so built in screen + two external screens at same time)?

If you pay attention to those tests, you're talking about a difference of a second or less for most users. How much does that matter to you in the real world where you won't have another MacBook side by side. Heck, I still have a M1 8/256 that I use as a beater at coffee shops and it still flys for normal stuff. Don't make it too complicated.

The M4 Air has a much nicer camera (12MP). So, more like what you'd have on your phone than the 1080p camera on the M3 Air. The M4 Air can also go up to 32GB of RAM, but it would obviously cost much more to do so.

Keep it. I debated all sorts of ways. That was a great deal. The $200 is not a big difference in the long run.

Is the 2nd year Costco warranty apple care, or do you have to do the thing with like how you do with credit card company warranties and get it fixed first and then send them the bill?

Doing hands-on comparison now b/w M3 24g and M4 16g during return period. $1K max budget, so trying to get the best for me. However, even with less ram M4 is noticeably snappier--it just can't handle as many open apps/browser tabs as M3 24g. Also, keyboard on M4 is better and the hinge goes back a touch more, giving more viewing angles. Tough call.
