275 nitts LOL. I'll wait for tandem OLED to hit monitors before ever consider buying an OLED monitor

What's tandem OLED? How far away you think it will be till we see this? Thanks

Is that a problem? My current IPS monitor is 350 nits but I use it on 25 percent brightness. Can't imagine that I would need more. Also it's not a laptop so it probably won't be used outdoors.

For the record, a Galaxy phone goes up to 2600 nits and the LG OLED TV goes up to 1180 nits.

For displays I think around 500 nits is a better target. 250 nits is what you get on cheap Inspiron IPS laptops.

Comparing to phones makes no sense since you aren't using a monitor outside in the full blown sun. 275 is fine for a normal room.

I bought acer predator x27u x1bmiiphx, its listed as 250 nits and plenty bright for me, I'm using it on default brightness and I lower the saturation a bit.
I'm returning the acer because there's no burn-in warranty, strongly considering grabbing this.

Premium laptops target 400+ nits. 250 is undoubtedly on the low side. Matter of fact, that's like the very bottom range of all laptops. Acceptable for dark environments but a bright room it's not ideal.

How do you like it otherwise? Im looking just to use it for gaming, so I dont think burn in would be an issue.

I love it for gaming, it's so beautiful. I agree with everyone who says they won't go back from an OLED. I'm still flirting with the idea of keeping the acer just because I'll be between monitors for a while. The color range is great for me and the blacks are so deep full-screen VLC made me think the monitor was off. I am coming from a very old IPS but comparing to newer laptop side-by-side the thing is great. I use it on default brightness (50%) with no issues.
The acer is glossy, and I find the default a bit oversaturated (50) and I turn the colors down a few notches, but the settings on the acer have a way of resetting themselves. The interface isn't the greatest so retuning those settings actually takes a couple minutes. That, and the OLED refresh cycle is really the only drawback for gaming, but it is what it is. These are the main drawbacks for me, aside from no warranty on the burn-in. If these aren't dealbreakers for you, the monitor is great. I'm squeezing every bit of media and gaming out of it I can, trying out Clair Obscur tonight.
Imo if you can afford a monitor in that 450-600 dollar range, these options are looking quite nice.
