What material is the table made of? Seem like plastic from the picture.

Edit: most reviews said it's plastic. I'll save a little more and get the Bosch table minus the router.

Kobalt's has an aluminum top and comes with a router for a similar price as this.

My son bought the Bosch table and was very dissatisfied with it. He called it a piece of crap. He got rid of it.

I have an old craftsman table that's pretty much all plastic and it has served me well.

I have three Bosch router cabinet. I like that it's enclosed but the aluminum plate that the router attaches to wasn't very flat. Since then, I upgraded the cabinet with a JessEm router lift. Its plate is plastic but it's perfectly flat. I definitely wouldn't pick based solely on plastic vs aluminum.

I have this and have used it once. It worked great. The top of the table is like melamine. The rest is plastic but it's substantial enough for the hobbyist. The router seems to be a quality tool.

how hard is it to use? I changed kitchen cabinets for pull-out drawers and has been searching for replacement face panels ever since. Those are ridiculously expensive (easily $100 for a piece of wood plank), so I can get a new tool and still save money here. But I never used a router before and have no idea how much additional work would be required for finishing. A word of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure what you're asking. This has a bit of a learning curve, but it's not difficult to use, and there are tons of YouTube videos about how to set it up and use it. It's safe to use, if you use it as it's intended, but router bits spinning at high rpms will take off flesh before you even feel it, so follow instructions and make sure to always use the fence, and PPE. Mostly what you use this for, is to put a shape on the edge of wood, like a molding. I also used it to put a slot in the middle of a wood plank to use as the top of a donation box I built for my church. If you want to make cabinet doors, I think that's probably better done on a table saw. I'm sure if you Google what you want to do, you'll find dozens of YouTube videos showing different ways to do it.
