I get it, these could be exos but I've been burned by Seagate so many times over 30 years I just can't trust them. Hope they last for you.

Exos are solid. They're the only Seagate I'll buy though. I have 16 of them with no failures.

The three 20TB drives I shucked have been WD200EDGZ. Two were -11BLDS0 and one was -11B9PA0.
I just bought one from WD last week. Model is -11CMXA0. It seems to be running well in my Synology NAS so far.

That link describe there are differences to the firmware of the two drive which the data throughput is throttles down by 30%.....

And it is not that easy to change the firmware for most people(?) So sounds like the speed is not the same(?)
My reading of that discussion is that the white label drives are throttled compared to red pro/gold labeled drives. The current easystore and elements use white labeled drives as far as I know.

Did you buy them all together or in separate batches? How do those versions compare to eachother, is one/some more desirable than the other(s)?
It looks like they have different performance specs. Here are the differences, according to smarthdd.com:
11BLDS0
Maximum Buffered Read Speed: 288 MBps
Maximum Read Speed: 265 MBps
Maximum average access time: 15.28 msec
Count of sensors: 19
Maximum temperature: 61
Average maximum temperature: 61
11B9PA0
Maximum Buffered Read Speed: 385 MBps
Maximum Read Speed: 228 MBps
Maximum average access time: 14.99 msec
Count of sensors: 20
Maximum temperature: 55
Average maximum temperature: 53
The extra sensor and lower tempts suggest that maybe the PA0 is has helium. Not positive, though.

I don't put too much faith in SMARTHDD's database. Remember, its contents are user submitted. The temperature difference is likely the result of environmental differences. I'm not aware of any 20TB drives that aren't helium. IF that 265MB/s number is correct, that's pretty impressive for a WD white. However, that ~15ms access time is evidence their performance is still being limited.

You can pretty much forget about swapping the firmware. WD really locks down their FW. You can't even flash FW with a different vendor code on drives of the exact same model.
