I used a prior version with a RTX 4070 and 32 GB of RAM, it was heavy and needed it's own power brick. The deal breaker was that it overheated a lot. Like a lot. It would sometimes be too hot to touch. It burned a thumbdrive once. I got it repaired through warranty but would never get a laptop with such a powerful video card again, at least not a p series. It never worked quite right when the video card was stressed.

thanks, good to know... I'd imagine there's a reason these are so cheap/discounted right now.

I want to pull the trigger on this for a new work laptop (professional engineer, revit, navisworks, recap, etc) but not sure the GPU will cut the mustard. It's already worse than my 3 year old 3060…

With tese lowend specs this needs to drop to $999 to be a slickdeal. Intel 155 CPU is horrible even against AMD's 7945 CPUs from two generations earlier. Rtx ada 5000 equivalent to a cripple rtx a2000 and that's already the lowest end desktop card with crippled rops, sensor cores, memorry etc.

You sure it was the p14 vs the p14s series? The s stands for slim so they aren't nearly as heavy and they don't have an option for higher end GPUs like the 4070.

I was going to say as well. I don't think there was any S series p laptops with that much of a DGPU. He is thinking of a normal P laptop
