Very solid, while its not technically the best, its still a near top of the line gaming CPU for most people at an absolute steal of a price.
For example, the best gaming processor you can buy a 9800x3D ($460 CPU only) is only 8% faster at 1440p with a 4090, 3% at 4k. Only at low resolutions with a flagship GPU (aka unrealistic scenarios for most people) will you really see the difference. The Core Ultra 265k is +50% faster in multithread and is more power efficient, so it pulls ahead in other ways while being cheaper.
The closest comparison at this price would be the 9600X ($210+$80 DDR5) and by far is the 265K the better CPU.
At this price, with free RAM, the 265k is the obvious buy if youre looking for a new build. A lot of old reviews will have been comparing products at MSRP but this is essentially a 50% discount... So it completely changes how you perceive the CPU. If I didnt already have a build from last year, I would be jumping on this personally.
Is there anyway to redeem the games without the "required" hardware being present?
No. I just went through this on a few redemption.
The redemption code you enter on softwareoffer.intel.com will run an app on your PC to verify your hardware. Once verified, you'll take a short survey then the games will show in the softwareoffer.intel account. Then the games can be accessed/redeemed from any PC at this point.
You will need a unique email and phone number if you should end up with multiple redemption codes (I had bought a few 265K's).
For me, Civ 7 was just a Steam Code, I don't know about Dying Light, there were other games in my combo that required me to log-in to the Intel account first, then to redeem the game I had to log-in to Ubisoft (Assassins Creed) so the license 'transfer' into the Ubisoft Account as there was no actual game code (like Civ 7). I don't know what service Dying Light is on.
Good deal but I'm scared buying from Newegg, remember they been selling refurbished and even not working products as new, once you send them back for refund they claim you break it and keep the money and the product, multiples reports everywhere, reviews Google Reddit YouTube you name it, I just don't wanna be the next one.
I miss the REAL NewEgg. I bought from them all the time until they were bought out

For gaming is this a solid processor/ram combo or is it better to go with AMD?

if you buy this, you will not be able to upgrade the CPU in the future. So even it is cheap, it will not cheap in a long run.
You will regret next year when it is time to get serious about AI and other new features become more common daily use.
The 265K smokes the 9800X3D in many compute tasks, like AI, because it has 20 cores. The 265K is also exceedingly power efficient. I own both, they both have their use cases. FPS per dollar at 4K, the 265K is a pretty great value, also.
AMD upgradability is nice, but I'd bet many AM4 owners are shopping AM5, not a 5700X3D.

I recently picked up a RTX 5070, I'm in for one with the Z890 Pro RS WiFi card, here's what Grok is saying: Stick with the Z890 Pro RS WiFi in your build. It's well-suited for your Core Ultra 7 265K and RTX 5070, offering all the essential features for 1440p gaming and beyond at a lower cost. The Lightning WiFi's upgrades don't provide enough practical benefit for your needs to justify the extra $40. Posts on X also suggest that small performance differences between similar-tier motherboards often aren't noticeable in real-world use, reinforcing that the cheaper option is likely sufficient here. Any deals on SSD and Case for my new Build? Grok is recommending: Primary Drive (SSD): Go with the WD_BLACK SN8100 2TB ($219) to fully leverage your Z890's PCIe 5.0 support and ensure top-tier performance for gaming and productivity. If budget is a concern, the Samsung 990 Pro 2TB ($200) is a fantastic PCIe 4.0 alternative.

What a fking Monster like deal!
I've been looking for a deal of 9600x/9700x/intel 265k for a long time. Yep, everyone says AMD CPU is better at the gaming, etc. but have anyone checked the numbers? The real difference between AMD and Intel CPU is only happening at 1080p gaming where almost 90% of players already moved on to at least 2k if not 4k. And even at 1080p, it's only 15%, for the majority of 2k gaming it's only 3-5%, 4k is 1%. But the CPU specs itself Intel is much better and productivity is almost double the AMD! I was hesitating if or not to buy 9600x because 265k is on par with 9700x at price which is $100 more. But this deal, omfg, this deal brings 265) price down to the same level as 9600x of $200, what an awesome deal!
Yes, it's the last CPU series for the platforms so it can't be upgraded but I tell you what: my old pc is 11 yr old with 4770(no k), still able to play many games at 2k at medium graphics quality. You really don't need to upgrade every year to play the game. Nowadays hardware is an overkill for majority casual players unless you are hardcore. A decent 265k can pretty much run another 10 year for me.
It's really a must buy for many non hardcore people!

It's true in that the GPU is 85% of the experience.

Ryzen ....X3D CPU would be better for gaming and other uses.

sIntel don't use their own factories to make their own high end CPUs but buying from TSMC.
Their are loosing market shares to AMD and ARM.
Be smart and stay away from Sintel.
