Very solid, while its not technically the best, its still a near top of the line gaming CPU for most people at an absolute steal of a price.
For example, the best gaming processor you can buy a 9800x3D ($460 CPU only) is only 8% faster at 1440p with a 4090, 3% at 4k. Only at low resolutions with a flagship GPU (aka unrealistic scenarios for most people) will you really see the difference. The Core Ultra 265k is +50% faster in multithread and is more power efficient, so it pulls ahead in other ways while being cheaper.
The closest comparison at this price would be the 9600X ($210+$80 DDR5) and by far is the 265K the better CPU.
At this price, with free RAM, the 265k is the obvious buy if youre looking for a new build. A lot of old reviews will have been comparing products at MSRP but this is essentially a 50% discount... So it completely changes how you perceive the CPU. If I didnt already have a build from last year, I would be jumping on this personally.

What a fking Monster like deal!
I've been looking for a deal of 9600x/9700x/intel 265k for a long time. Yep, everyone says AMD CPU is better at the gaming, etc. but have anyone checked the numbers? The real difference between AMD and Intel CPU is only happening at 1080p gaming where almost 90% of players already moved on to at least 2k if not 4k. And even at 1080p, it's only 15%, for the majority of 2k gaming it's only 3-5%, 4k is 1%. But the CPU specs itself Intel is much better and productivity is almost double the AMD! I was hesitating if or not to buy 9600x because 265k is on par with 9700x at price which is $100 more. But this deal, omfg, this deal brings 265) price down to the same level as 9600x of $200, what an awesome deal!
Yes, it's the last CPU series for the platforms so it can't be upgraded but I tell you what: my old pc is 11 yr old with 4770(no k), still able to play many games at 2k at medium graphics quality. You really don't need to upgrade every year to play the game. Nowadays hardware is an overkill for majority casual players unless you are hardcore. A decent 265k can pretty much run another 10 year for me.
It's really a must buy for many non hardcore people!
You can combo this with a z890 board to get an additional $80 off plus another free game. It seems very hard to beat this value. Great deal.
Can you tell me the trick to find a mobo combo savings? Or just check all of them one by one? Cuz the combo savings under the CPU deal is fixed for me.

I believe the poster is saying Intel Ultra 7 is -50 and the ASRock Z890 Pro RS WiFi is -30, with a total of -80.
Just picked up this bundle with the ASRock Z890 Pro RS for $449. People compare the Intel Ultra 7 265K to the pricier AMD 9800X3D, but CPU bottlenecks aren't a factor unless you're running a 5080 or 5090. Benchmarks show even a 5070 sees minimal FPS loss when paired with something as low-end as the DDR4 AMD 5700x (non-3D)
There's no such thing as a "dead socket." I'm upgrading from an ASUS Sabertooth X58 (LGA 1366) paired with an overclocked Xeon X5690, which still handles most modern games without bottlenecks when used with a GeForce RTX 2070 and 32GB of DDR3(!) RAM.
Ultra 7 265K Bonuses:
Easy to keep cool (& the thermal limit is 105°C vs AMD's 95°C)
These are the 2 boards that currently qualify for $80 combo discount with this processor.
Solid option if you don't need the Ram. Basically gives you the option to stick $80 elsewhere in the build or $$$ saved with already discounted processor.

the thing is though gamers rely on dlss/fsr which means at 4k you are likely between 1080p to 1440p internal resolution, so youll see the gap widen with 9800x3d pulling away the lower internal resolution you go, youll also get better 1% lows, from my experience 1080p internal res/dlss perf at 4k can look pretty close to native 4k.
I bought a similar combo when it was Assassin's Creed and Civ VII. The AC did some kind of hardware verification but I don't remember the Civ doing so.FWIW CL 36 is Samsung chips while CL 30 is Hynix if that matters any to you.FYI definitely get the latest BIOS which should be last month for most motherboards and enable the 200S Boost unless you are totally into manual overclocking. DM me for any questions on this.
Just a heads up, the Intel 200S boost are only supported on Z890 chipset motherboards and make sure the brad motherboard you are getting have the updated bios available.
The 265K smokes the 9800X3D in many compute tasks, like AI, because it has 20 cores. The 265K is also exceedingly power efficient. I own both, they both have their use cases. FPS per dollar at 4K, the 265K is a pretty great value, also.AMD upgradability is nice, but I'd bet many AM4 owners are shopping AM5, not a 5700X3D.
I have both as well and with the Intel 200S Boost upgrade, it narrows the gap between AMD and Intel in the gaming front

You're right, I think too many Ryzen owners already upgraded to the 5000 series (like me, and we've had over 4 years to switch) for most of us the 5700X3D might not offer enough in terms of value (especially since it looks like it's already going up in price), and there are already excellent deals like this or for the 7/9000 series for AMD both of which will get you pretty far for today and tomorrow.
I paid with credit so we see how chase feels about thier money being in correctly taken
It a little bit more of a process then they make you think. You would have to have significant proof sent to chase and even then... but hopefully that wont happen.
