I'm new to these simple human trash cans. It seems like for this one you have to use proprietary bags? Does anyone know the actual gallon sizes for both these inserts. Seems ridiculous to have a proprietary expensive bag...

You don't have to use the SH bags, lots of knockoffs on Amazon. I've had this trashcan for going on 10 years, still going strong even though it's been relegated to outdoor use by the BBQ

I have a Simple Human can that calls for two size H bags, I just use regular trash bags from Costco and it works fine.

I've owned this SH trash can for over five years and it's amazing! Note, I use it in the garage, so works perfect for a combo trash can. It might be difficult as a full-time trash can for a family though. Just my opinion since I use it for a garage setup vs full-time in house.

There is a fixed divider in between the two bins so you can't swap it out for a larger single bin. IMO the two bins are way too small unless you're a single person household. Quality build is nice, but functionally the capacity is too small.
