Low arsenic but potentially high cadmium. From the recent CNN article:

"Basmati rice from India, jasmine rice from Thailand and California-grown sushi and Calrose rice (a form of sushi rice) were at or below the 100 parts per billion levels set by the FDA for arsenic in infant rice cereals. However, the Indian basmati and Italian Arborio varieties contained the highest average levels of cadmium."
Yes its one of the best ever price I have seen in costco for 20lbs bag.

Completely different from basmati rice.

Also Royal is one of the worst basmati brands available in the US. Kirkland basmati is a good compromise between price and quality.

💯 Royal basmati texture is the worst.

Costco discontinued a while back in DFW at least.
I have not seen it in the Warehouse for at least a year.

anyone freakin out over arsenic definitely doesn't wash their rice before cooking, probably don't wash their meat either lmao

I usually give my rice and meat a good soaking in diluted bleach. One gallon of water per each tbsp of bleach.

I always buy the cheap walmart rice. I never heard of any rice having a herbal flavor.
I like Jasmine rice because it has a sweet floral flavor.

We buy this rice from Costco monthly and find it a fine value brand. Since we wash the rice before cooking, I am hoping we are not consuming too much Arsenic and Cadmium :-) We also buy Jasmine variety and alternate depending on the recipe. I am hoping someone would suggest a better brand of basmati. I know of the sela basmati, but we find its grains too big and less tasty.

Yep get the jasmine rice instead. Was so much better as someone who got this for years and one day tried something else.

Isn't FDA supposed to reduce headcount ?

Easy enough to check through the app.
18.99 and 19.99 at my GA Costcos.

Prices on the app are not the same as in-store when it comes to costco. Only Sam's has same price, online or in-store.

Without making the same assertion blaming a certain geography or diet, what I can say neutrally.and confidently is that there is definitely a MAYO-CALYPSE happening in India, that too, not the real recipe, just a 'vegan' mayo made of hydrogenated cheap oils, thickeners, preservatives on everything. Look at any street food, or any 'fusion cuisine'....ugh everything laced with copious amounts of this white poison....and also fraudulently touted as cheese or liquid cheese or creamy sauce and used in pasta, pizza, sandwich, dosa and everything you can imagine. Let me find that article about thus. It's there on the internet.
corre ct, when i used to see street food more than two decades ago, there was none of the fat/mayo/fake cheese.... weird change.

I've never seen a Chinese store, I have seen Asian markets however. And Basmati is a rice used in various Asian cuisines. And so if you really are at a "Chinese" store, they might not have it, but if your "Chinese" stores are actually Asian markets, it's likely they have Basmati, Jasmine, and a plethora of other varieties of rices, in 1 and 2 pound bags up to 30 pound sacks.
Ah, okay. I live in a very diverse city. Being Asian, we tend to only find Basmati in the South Asian stores, whether they be Indian, Pakistani, or Bangladeshi. The Chinese and the Korean stores generally don't carry Basmati here.
