Low arsenic but potentially high cadmium. From the recent CNN article:

"Basmati rice from India, jasmine rice from Thailand and California-grown sushi and Calrose rice (a form of sushi rice) were at or below the 100 parts per billion levels set by the FDA for arsenic in infant rice cereals. However, the Indian basmati and Italian Arborio varieties contained the highest average levels of cadmium."

We buy this rice from Costco monthly and find it a fine value brand. Since we wash the rice before cooking, I am hoping we are not consuming too much Arsenic and Cadmium :-) We also buy Jasmine variety and alternate depending on the recipe. I am hoping someone would suggest a better brand of basmati. I know of the sela basmati, but we find its grains too big and less tasty.

Ah, okay. I live in a very diverse city. Being Asian, we tend to only find Basmati in the South Asian stores, whether they be Indian, Pakistani, or Bangladeshi. The Chinese and the Korean stores generally don't carry Basmati here.
