Greenworks has stood behind their warranty for me as well when I has an issue with one of my tools.
How the ZT? I was so tempted but 5K for it steered me into keeping my current gas one.

Yes, battery stays in fine, you are only altering the side channels, so the latching or catch part stays the same. Just make sure you match the channels and widen them appropriately.
I altered both the Kobalt and GW batteries to fit in all tools I have. Good thing is then you can also use the GW charger for both too, which is nice…
Also FYI: You can use Kobalt 80v batteries in this, with slight modification to the battery case. I used my dremel and it was pretty easy/quick…
