FAQ on BB page says memory can be upgraded.
I wouldn't be too worried about S mode, there is always a way to get it removed. You also have 15 days to return if for whatever reason you can't get it out of S mode.

I guess if all you do is piddle-paddle around on mobile phone playing Angry Birds, you don't actually do anything worthwhile -- so therefore, you don't even need 8gb of ram!

A hint: there are several types of touchscreens, and while the one YOURS has may be an issue, others will not.
I have multiple 8th gen touchscreen Dells with zero issues with the touchscreens.
