Wow EGO is expensive. Other polesaws are down to $99. Is this gold plated? Why does EGO charge so much?

Partially due to the battery. Bare tools are usually much cheaper.

This is not the same as a $100 pole saw. I now have three different ones and they each serve their own purpose. If you have small branches that are fairly low, the Greenworks 40V 8" one works okay. I needed something that could handle 4"+ branches at 30 to 40 feet above ground. The Ego PS1001 with two extensions was capable enough. It also cost almost as much as it would have to get the trained professionals to do the job. But, I have since used it for some other tasks so it was worth it to me.

I paid the same price (not on sale as I recall) almost 2 years ago. The carbon fiber extensions are also not cheap. With 2 and the base unit fully extended it is very heavy and awkward.

This is a dedicated pole saw. You cannot change the attachments like with PH1400 or PH1420 plus a pole saw attachment.

Isn't this its normal sale price? I see it go on sale for this every other month for the last couple years per Keepa.

Are the dedicated tools worth it over the multi-head system?

Thought about doing this. Have a large tree, professionals quoting $2k+ to trim it and remove a branch pointed at our house. Could buy a lot of carbon fiber extensions ($80/each) for that.

My ph1400 with pole saw just cut down a 10" limb with ease. It's not even close to the same as green works, those are toys. I've done full scale commercial delimbing jobs with this thing. It's a workhorse. I can't imagine what a dedicated pole saw from Ego could do.

Looking for a reasonably priced pole saw. Can you point me to some $100 models. Would be very helpful. Thank you.

Dewalt frequently goes on sale for $170 with charger, 4ah battery and extra chain.

Based on the triple camel, the price fluctuates between $299 and $399... so while your price from April 12 is true, I wouldn't say this is normal price.
