Can you get two of these and easily create a mesh network?

Or would a Deco setup be better??

....currently using two Asus Ac3100's in AiMesh

You can as they are a part of TP-Links EasyMesh network of devices: https://www.tp-link.com/us/easyme...duct-list/

This is not a bad deal. The cash back makes this like a $140 router I think.

Bought this but it is slower than my ARCHER AX4400 wifi6 router. Returned it.

You can, but honestly - these are kinda trash. I have this and the model above it… and the range isn't great at all. If I were buying new, I'd grab a ready-built mesh system

For this price the router is a steal, it passed a 3 day stress test with no issues, offers middle of the line wifi 7 performance around 1.5Gbps to a single device, but its currently the lowest priced wifi 7 router out there. The range concerns mentioned by Bootleg are overblown and this router is nowhere near TRASH as he puts it but yes its made for houses around 1500sq ft. If you are looking for more coverage than yes you would want a mesh or a router with external antennas, thats why the spider routers are so effective.

Dongs review of the router sums it up pretty well.

is this merlin compatible?

I need to replace an aging nighthawk R9700 and want to replace it with something that has 2.5Gbps LAN ports at a minimum

Might as well wait for gl.inet new one. Flint 3 (GL-BE9300)

It should be out soon. Not much supports 7 that is ddrt or tomato compatible.

Looks like an excellent deal. Just a 4 port 2.5gbit ethernet switch would be $60-$70 which I've been looking into; so for $100 more I could also upgrade to Wifi 7.

Only thing is, I have free security, IDS/IPS, etc. On my ASUS Wifi 6 router and TP-Link, like most other manufacturers, wants to sell subscriptions to unlock these local features. I already have an eero from my ISP that I've relegated to an AP because I'm not paying for all those subscriptions just to get features built in to my ASUS router. I'm just not convinced I need another AP right now since I already have 2.

It worked, showed up in my product page and in my cart, probably hit the limit of units sold, this was a steal for a wifi 7 middle of the road router at the lowest price possible out there.
