Ha! You're totally right. I got it backwards. LOL Appreciate the heads up. I've revised my prior post to reflect the correct deal.

Metabo HPT tends to have a couple single tools / kits that run pretty cheap and come with batteries, charger, bag etc. Not quite 'free tool' range but if you're picking up a couple of these you may want to see if it's just worth picking up a drill package or something.

Curious what everyone's opinion is on Metabo tools in general? Are they like a Ryobi type brand or better?

Its the tool brand formerly known as Hitachi. Japanese brand although like everyone else a lot is made elsewhere these days. Certainly not Ryobi grade, the tools themselves are up there with Bosch etc, but MHPT / Hitachi / Hikoki is more well known Euro / Asia/ Australia than the US. Theres an 18V line and a 36V line and you can use the 36V batteries in the 18V tools, and theres an AC adapter for 36V as well. Some tools like the triple hammer impact driver, 36V Sawzall, nailers etc are top of class. Lots of good saws. Some tools come with systainer-style boxes. Metabo and Metabo HPT tools aren't battery compatible (long story) but some tools are clearly the same otherwise. Even then it's not as flushed out a tool platform as team red/yellow/teal if you need weird niche stuff / more of the auto mechanic style tools.
Because it's not as popular in the US it tends to be priced low / have decent sales here, which can mean real bargains if you can wait on a Lowes daily deal or an Acme special.

Theyare much better than ryobi. Depending on the tool. It can be better than dewalt/milwaukee in some respects. They tend to follow makita in design elements. Generally speaking, the are lighter, more ergonomic than makita, with around the same power. Makita generally has better build quality in drills/saws. Metabo has better build quality in nailers/hammer drills. Their 36v track saw is at least as good as makitas. One thing I wish was better, is their triggers. They feel great, but lack the refinement of makita (omron japan). Their batteries are great, well made, and their chargers are relatively cheap, although louder than other chargers as they usually have loud fans. The chargers dont feel as refined as their competitors, a little more plasticky. I would say, if you get a good deal on one jump on it. They don't disappoint. They go on sale, unlike makita XGT.

Disclaimer :I own Dewalt, makita lxt and xgt, and metabo hpt tools. Ive only used milwaukee in store demos, but have a good sense of what they offer based on that and online reviews.
