Like I posted in the wireless thread, I got one of these a few weeks ago, it works great as a PC controller but is very very clicky on the button presses. Think of the loudness as a mechanical keyboard while the ps or Xbox controllers are way more quieter and fluid, I ended up returning mine for a Xbox controller

Cannot fathom how Sony and Microsoft still sell significantly less durable controllers for well over three times the cost of these 8Bitdos. It should be illegal at this point

In layman's terms, they use magnets so the sticks don't drift. None of the major first party controllers have them.

Because it will cut into their profits. Why do you think Sony sells a $200 controller with $20 replaceable thumbsticks that are regularly sold out.

I had a launch XBox Series X controller last for years, before it developed stick drift. Bought a new XBox Series controller and had stick drift in about 2 months. WTF?!
I'll give these a shot for the price. You can literally buy 3-4 of these for the price M$ is charging or going to start charging in the near future... Without Hall Effect anything.
Same- just started using a spare Series X controller I got about 2 years ago. In 6 months, left stick is unusable. My Xbox 360 controller from 2006 is still going strong.

If anyone is wondering, this is NOT what you want for Yuzu, emulators. You want the "Switch compatible" Bluetooth versions. I've read these will work as a regular controller but without motion controls.
Thank you for pointing that out.
Side rant: It is baffling to me how 8Bitdo can have identically named controllers with different branding, which can have entirely different feature sets based on that brand. Just give the different controllers....different model numbers to avoid confusion. Or use a suffix system like "Ultimate C-X" and "Ultimate C-S" (Xbox vs Switch) so they can distinguish between features they only implement with certain brands affiliations.
There website doesn't help much either. If they are going to keep going down this confusing @$$ naming system then provide a clear cut table showing what models do what. I've actually contacted 8Bitdo a couple of times on this, once they even said they didn't know the answer to if a certain controller had or didn't have gyro....

I bought this a week ago from woot for $25. Emailed support to see if they would refund the $5 difference.
Also, it's been a great replacement for the 4 broken OEM Xbox one controllers which now all have drift so bad that they are not even useable anymore. Not giving M$ anymore money.

Has anyone here used hall effect sticks, and if so when compared to traditional is there a difference in feel or motion?

I ask because I have seen a few comments now complaining that the sticks do not feel as "smooth" and that the commenters ended up switching back to drift prone sticks... Is there any truth to those claims?
I didn't notice a problem with my anbernic. In fact there was no problem after I dropped it on the sticks a couple times. Which would have likely been the end of traditional sticks. My anbernic does needed turned on then off an on to go to the proper 2/4 connection often. Which has no power button so I have to unplug the 2.4ghz adaptor. Other than that haven't had issues.

I've also used 200+ controllers in my time so a slight difference in how the sticks offer resistance isnt an issue to me unless it's extremely loose or tight.

I payed like $20 for my anbernic with programmable back buttons, lights, 4 wireless compatibility types. The back buttons are the best I've used outside the original FPS master controllers no longer for sale due to them never fixing how weak the pistol triggers were.

The back button controllers go for $100-$300 usually while standard Xbox an sony go for $65.

An anyone who sees this thinking those other triggers on this brand are additional better placed buttons like back buttons are ; they are not. This brand only has those as rapid fire from what I have read. Anbernic allows you to program the additional buttons to be whatever; even combos; an you have a seperate button to activate rapid fire

Tbh, I bought 3 8bitdo controllers this week.

If they're not going to be sold in the US, I wanted 2 for the upcoming Switch 2. Liked them so much I bought one for my PC to replace my Xbox Core controller.

I would just spend the extra $7-10 on a "2C." If you look around you can usually find a distributor that has a 10% off coupon.

Looks like the 2C is on sale on Amazon right now for $26:

Considering getting one. I have an XBONE Wireless controller and love it but an extra controller is always nice.

Got this last time. Didn't love the fit in my hand. But the 8bD Ultimate 2 I got is my favorite controller this generation. Definitely worth the extra $.

I've tried hall effect sticks on the PowerA Advantage Plus, and can honestly say it doesn't feel as smooth or accurate as the OEM(Xbox One MicroUSB, model 1708) controllers I have, which are most likely ALPS(and obviously potentiometer). I've done some "research" and hall effect needs some extra firmware/software processing to map those magnetic signals to positional input (and smoothing) compared to the potentiometer sticks, and that's dependent on the implementation. On top of the varied physical resistance of the sticks in models(since hall effect requires none), you'll likely need to find the controller that is right for you.
Not to totally dismiss your experience, but I think your main issue is that it was a PowerA product. Hall effect sticks have been around a long time. The first time I used one was on the OEM Dreamcast controller. You shouldn't need a special program to put them into spec. A controller with them built in should work fine out of the box. Now I bought the gulikit TMR Xbox replacement hall effect sticks. Those would have to be programmed because those are a retrofit. I have a couple of the 8bitdo pro 2 wired controllers, and they work great!

No mention of warranty.
bought a prior sale of the white version of this from 8bitdo off woot, and their standard 1 year warranty applies...which i know because the usb port on mine has just died 7 months later D:

emailed their support and they are covering it- granted I have to pay for shipping of the unit to them, which they'll then poke at and make a determination on...but it sounds like the usb port dying is an issue from the subtext of the email, so expecting a new one back.

that said, 20$ is cheaper than that last one, so getting another in the interim lol.

The Xbox series controllers are already way louder then PlayStation button presses. How much louder could these possibly be? 😲

Which wireless models would work wireless with an Xbox and also wireless to work with a MacBook or windows PC?

You can use 8BitDo Wireless USB Adapter 2 to connect to Xbox/PS5.

Any 8BitDo wireless works with Android/PC?
