Mosquitoes have a complicated relationship with light! While they don't flock to artificial lights the way moths do, certain types of light can influence their behavior.
- Not strongly attracted to light: Unlike many insects, mosquitoes don't rely on light for navigation. Instead, they use body heat, carbon dioxide, and scent to find their targets.
- Blue and UV light: Some studies suggest that mosquitoes are more drawn to blue and ultraviolet light than to warmer colors like yellow or red.
- Time of day matters: Day-biting mosquitoes may be more attracted to light during daylight hours, while night-biting species tend to avoid bright lights during the day.
