It doesn't directly connect to the PS5 console while at home to guarantee a stutter free high resolution feed video (ex: Wii U gamepad did it 10 years ago, no wifi required) and instead relies on your home wifi network which can be bad/flaky regardless of your ISP or even router. With PLENTY of online complaints from users wasting countless hours unable to get a smooth streaming experience.
It doesn't have WiFi 6 which is wild for a dedicated streaming device.
It's streaming quality is no better than if you used your phone or laptop. In fact, Portal quality is often worse if you use Chiaki on mobile/PC. (I don't understand how some internet randos know networking and decoding better than Sony)
At $130 though? I think it's definitely worth a shot to see how quality is on your home network. Albeit I'm shocked how many owners gloss over these issues.
I get what you're saying but this is more purpose built vs your solution.

Most games I play on PS5.. I would much rather play on a big-screen OLED TV with a nice sound system and a controller, not sitting on the couch with a 7" handheld screen. With that said, I do find it useful for stuff and can recommend it if you have the extra money.
You need a good network. Hard-wire your PS5, put your portal on 5GHz if you can. If your 'playing area' (portal) is going to be too far away from your portal, the experience will suck. My PS5 + Router + Portal are generally going to be in the same room about 10-15 feet apart from eachother. I use mine at my desk for little 'grinding' tasks while I'm working at the computer, and love it. It lets me catch fish in Stellar blade (which I hate) without having to sit in front of the TV for 2 hours.. I sit at my desk, do whatever I'm doing and then go back to the portal every minute or so to start fishing again between stuff I'm doing. It's good for small games, stuff where graphics don't matter as much. I don't want to play Uncharted 8 or Horizon 3 on this thing, I'd rather play those on the big screen.
Lag/Input issues for me are zero. It works great, looks great, no problem. Except for HDR - it doesn't support HDR and if your PS5 outputs HDR it will look ugly on the portal, so you sometimes have to turn it off (or make sure the PS5 isn't trying to connect to your TV and get a HDR connection, because it will ruin the look on the portal)
Sound is good, battery is good, the controllers are good.. except that stupid touch pad. Any games that require touch pad will be a horrible experience on the portal. Stellar Blade? Absolutely hated using the touchpad on the portal because it would never work.
Headphones? Doesn't work with bluetooth. It will take the Pulse Elite headphones, otherwise you're stuck with wired.
Screen is nice, everything else is fine. If you have the PS+ tier with the game streaming? also awesome -- no PS5 required, just pick it up and go.
If you are planning to take this to work, camping, etc.. or anywhere else, it will all rely on your internet connection. It will not play games locally, there is no storage, everything needs to be streamed via wifi signal. It's not a "play in the car" while your mom drives you to school or a play at work thing unless you have a good internet connection.
I didn't care to play it outside of the house, so it wasn't an issue for me. I just want to play it in bed, on the couch, or at my desk when I'm doing other stuff to get past parts in games so I can enjoy the 'meat and potatoes' on the big screen instead of grinding for coins/costumes/whatever else

My BBY had some excellent ones, in for 1... if its lame ill just return it
Exactly and the PS portal bootlickers are really out in full force. I just believe they don't know about PS remote play / pxplay and are just on copium.
It's really a dead weight product without an internet connection... And do you really think Sony will keep this product alive? Probably had more use if it's jailbroken so it'll live longer at least

I could be upstairs where I am assuming it's hitting my top floor Deco while still on my home network and....static-y experience. ?????
Outside of the home? I have a great upload speed + ping but it still can be butt cheeks as when off the network it is still of course connecting through your PS5. This is where things get funky as there's to many barriers involved to troubleshoot WHAT is wrong. Is it my PS5? is it my Decos? Is it speediest lying to me? What is it???
The feel is amazing. I see the use case for this. Here's my second fear: This is going to turn into a $150+ vessel for PS Premium games if I never use this again for actual local gaming. That too is a bit....much. It was a great 1080p experience but that's because I'm not streaming through my console.
