The thing that bugs me the most is it's not even purpose built "well".

It doesn't directly connect to the PS5 console while at home to guarantee a stutter free high resolution feed video (ex: Wii U gamepad did it 10 years ago, no wifi required) and instead relies on your home wifi network which can be bad/flaky regardless of your ISP or even router. With PLENTY of online complaints from users wasting countless hours unable to get a smooth streaming experience.
It doesn't have WiFi 6 which is wild for a dedicated streaming device.
It's streaming quality is no better than if you used your phone or laptop. In fact, Portal quality is often worse if you use Chiaki on mobile/PC. (I don't understand how some internet randos know networking and decoding better than Sony)
At $130 though? I think it's definitely worth a shot to see how quality is on your home network. Albeit I'm shocked how many owners gloss over these issues.
Yeah but that would tie up the phone / laptop / tablet and use their battery. And you have to putz around with controller pairing. And bringing two things with you.

I get what you're saying but this is more purpose built vs your solution.
I love mine. Bad info from people who know nothing about it. You are getting a full PS5 controller with feedback, rumble, ext. Stream your console anywhere with good wifi (best at home of course), no ps+ needed. Stream games with ps+ from cloud (no ps5 needed). No need for phone attachments and eating phone batteries. For $200, it has resulted in more gameplay for me, and overall statistics provided by Sony support this as well.

Hell of a deal! I bought one a year ago and have played a couple hundred hours on mine. I love it. You can tell though when some other people start streaming 4k movies at the same time on the WiFi, as it cuts down on the resolution and fps, so it definitely requires a fast internet for smooth gameplay.

Great deal if this thing works without lag for you. But good luck troubleshooting it if it does...

I echo this comment. I have had one since launch and use it wayyy more than I ever used my PS5 by itself. It is just so easy to grab and get playing while my wife and I are watching Netflix. I've used it at home, at my in-laws house and on the road. Fantastic device and thinking of buying a second one as a backup. Killer deal. Thanks OP.
100% Agreed. I've used it more than just the PS5 - easily 200 hours of Helldivers on this thing, with almost no hiccups. Also around the same with Baldur's Gate (now playing yet again w/ the cross-play).

Haven't done cloud streaming much, but it's worked totally fine when playing, and we only have 100MBPS internet (with an awesome Asus GT6 router).

For someone who wants to play mature games without their young kids watching, this is a great solution. No more staying up late to play Oblivion. Thanks OP!

That can usually be managed with tweaking QoS settings though and giving the device priority on your network.

It already has top priority on my asus 86u. Maybe I'll have to adjust some other settings?

Sorry if this is a redundant post but I was able to order one in excellent condition for shipping and I did just that. Don't need it but the price is just too right. Thanks OP!

Anyone else struggling as bad as I am to get one of these? I've ordered for pickup at 3 different locations and once for shipping and everyone has ultimately gotten cancelled.

Just got one. It was brand new. It had a sticker saying open box, but this thing for sure had never been opened.

I had my order canceled. It was available for pickup at my local Best Buy and now it's no longer available so maybe that's the reason they got canceled? Regardless I ordered another one this time having it shipped and it hasn't canceled yet

No issues here.
Ordered a Like New for shipping around 10:30am ET, got the FedEx shipping confirmation at about 4:15pm ET for delivery tomorrow.
Shipping from a Best Buy about 175 miles away.

I have a love/hate relationship with this. I love it when it works. I hate it when it doesn't. What baffles me is this: I have my PS5 hardwired in my basement to 1 of 3 TP Link Decos. I could be literally 10ft away from it and I get a static-y experience. Why am I 10ft away? I just wanna game while my wife watches something on TV so I thought this was that perfect compromise. NOPE.

I could be upstairs where I am assuming it's hitting my top floor Deco while still on my home network and....static-y experience. ?????

Outside of the home? I have a great upload speed + ping but it still can be butt cheeks as when off the network it is still of course connecting through your PS5. This is where things get funky as there's to many barriers involved to troubleshoot WHAT is wrong. Is it my PS5? is it my Decos? Is it speediest lying to me? What is it???

The feel is amazing. I see the use case for this. Here's my second fear: This is going to turn into a $150+ vessel for PS Premium games if I never use this again for actual local gaming. That too is a bit....much. It was a great 1080p experience but that's because I'm not streaming through my console.

Sounds like a mixed bag. I pick this up tonight. My thoughts... I am also on deco mesh. 1) force portal to 5g band only - better? 2) force portal to connect to ONE deco puck only - vs hopping around - better? 3) set priority on the PS5 - or on the Portal? Better? ---- Theae are all things I plan on experimenting with this evening if performance bites like many have reported. You may have tried a bunch of items all ready - just sharing my thoughts. Good luck!

All of the above can be done via the Deco app... not in portal settings.

So what do you do when you have the inevitable stick drift/failure? Exactly

I just picked up mine, luckily I opted for store pickup instead of delivery. Although I ordered an excellent condition, while opening the box in front of the Best Buy employee we both agreed that it wasn't even in fair condition. So they let me to pick another one. Which was in excellent condition.
Just make sure that you check before it's too late.
