Got it a few weeks ago on previous deal. It worked like a champ on my pruning shears.

Experts say this will dull or ruin your blades. Short term solutions to a long term problem.

But it's made by the same reliable company that makes my yard tools lol

I watched the video for this product. It recommends 4 to 5 passes on the blade surface and then one pass on the other side to remove burrs.

This is more consistent with a honing steel than true sharpening. 4 to 5 passes isn't going to remove a meaningful amount of metal. If your garden tools are dulled or if there are nicks or damage to the blade, you need to be able to remove some metal to get sharpness back. This isn't going to do that. Furthermore, it requires a fair amount of skill to do this free hand and get all the angles right. It's not surprising to hear that people have ruined their tools with it.

For my regular knives , I use a WorkSharp MK2. However I found it also works great for sharpening lawnmower blades and a variety of other outdoor tools. I found it to be super easy and it produces great results without having to learn a challenging skill. It's pretty much idiot proof.

For $1 more, you can get a more versatile diamond coated steel sharpener. I use this one to sharpen my pruners and serrated knives.
