For the person looking for OPPO or Magnetar PQ & AQ performance on a budget.
Walmart( sold by classy outfit fulled by Walmart) has the top on the line ub9000 for $866.
Not the lowest but these prices don't happen often & this is discontinued.

In my experience you would see/hear a difference, unlikely not worth the significant price difference.
The biggest complaint is this doesn't support for SACD/DVD-A.

On the flip side, compared to the 820.
In general, much better build & TBH the audio more than picture performance.
Like the 9000 the difference isn't worth the higher cost in my experience.

This does have just a few other adjustments that very few would benefit from imo.

For this price, it should have an excellent streaming platform but what are the odds of that?

It doesn't but to be fair it wouldn't be much of a benefit, especially for the extra cost.

Even stand alone good/better streaming platforms, the majority of people don't find them worth the extra cost imo.

I agree, but no one is buying a $900 4k Blu-ray player to use as a streaming device. The market for this is strictly people who want higher build quality and dacs perhaps. You can spend 50 bucks and get an excellent streaming device.

I agree that there are good cheap stand alone streamers. However, I would really like to have an all in one solution. The hardware in this unit likely could do an excellent job.

Cheap separates are the way to go now given how things change but something robust like a shield TV can last
