I bought this last month for the same price and I love it. Initially it felt pretty plasticity, and that obviously hasn't changed, but the sound is better than I expected.

I got the non-LED model at Walmart for $35 on clearance and I love it. The bass is decent for the size of the speaker and the battery is great.

Dude, that is a great deal! I would totally take the non-led version. The led is silly I ordered mine 2 weeks ago and just asked if they could refund the difference instead of me returning it and reordering.

My review: I was really looking forward to trying the Soundcore Boom 2, but I have to say—it's definitely not putting out 80W or even 60W of power. That claim feels like a total exaggeration. I compared it directly with my Harman Kardon Onyx 4, which is rated at 30W and has been my go-to for the last four years. The Onyx is just as loud, if not louder, and has noticeably better bass.
That said, the Boom 2 does sound good overall, and it's impressively lightweight. It's about two-thirds the size of the HK and fits into my backpack much more easily, which is a huge plus for portability.
Still, I'm disappointed it doesn't deliver anywhere near double the volume as advertised. Also, the battery life falls short—it only lasts around 3 hours at full volume, which is only slightly better than the HK despite the claims.
So overall, I'd say it's a mixed bag. I'm happy with the compact size and decent sound, but disappointed by the misleading power and battery claims. Oh, the full waterproof feature is really cool and I probably will use that. I row during the summer on a crew team and plan on regularly bringing it on board.

Yes, if you press the Sharingan button you can link multiple speakers together with the PartyCast feature

That would be cool if they could refund the difference. After reading the other comment that asked if you could link them, I thought about linking multiple LED models together via PartyCast to create a portable music/light show. Kind of a silly application and I don't have a personal use for that, but I guess it's still a use for someone out there lol. If I ever see another non-LED model for the $35 price range again I would definitely consider getting a second one just for the PartyCast feature. You seem way more knowledgeable about speakers than I do, what's your opinion on the PartyCast feature or something similar?

I did this a couple of times with the Harman kardon that I had. But only a couple of times. You had to use the app and it worked but because of the cost of those Harman kardon speakers, I never invested in more than two and most of the time I just use larger speakers. I have quite a collection of more professional Bluetooth speakers now, so I just bring a big speaker instead of doing the party casting. It does work though. And for $35, I would definitely grab a couple.

I don't have a lot to compare it too, but I started using mine in the yard, front and back, when I am doing yard work or grilling. Even at maybe 30% volume, I feel like my neighbors would be irritated, lol. Houses are not that close, but the one I have is loud. I turned it up to 100% power, just to see, and there is no way I could be anywhere close to this thing. At 50% I feel I am sharing my music with all my neighbors.

These have been $72 for a while on ebay as refurbs. They just raised price and offered a coupon bringing it back to $72. Either way, heck of a buy for $72. While these look cheap and plasticky, they sound very good.

I thought the non-led version is the 30w version? The LED version is the 80W version, huge difference in sound.

Ah, turns out you're 100% right, the one I have is the 30W

Interesting. I use this in my backpack at full volume. I wonder if I have a dud. It sounds fine, but definitely not excessively loud. Thanks for the feedback.
