In the ~$50 dive watch arena, Addiesdive has a number of models, such as their MY-HC3, that come in around this price point and which correct a few of the problem areas on this Casio. The lume on the Casio is quite weak to start with and fades rapidly, which undermines its status as a "dive watch". Addiesdive offers KG Swiss BGW9 which is dramatically superior, no contest there. The Addiesdive has a (cheap) stainless steel bracelet where Casio has a (even cheaper) rubber strap. The unframed, tiny date window on the Casio is not very legible. The Addiesdive has a framed window and also a cyclops magnifier on the crystal. (if you don't like the cyclops you can remove it with heat.) The Addiesdive uses a Japanese Miyota quartz movement and Japanese battery with an estimated 4 year service life. Miyota is the supplier for the Citizen watch group and their movements are certainly on par with Casio's. The unidirectional bezel on the MY-HC3 model has raised numerals, versus the printed markings on the Casio. Other Addiesdive models offer a flat bezel with a decent lumed pip, Casio's pip is so dim and fades so quickly it's kinda useless. The Addiesdive has a signed crown, which you may or may not care for, but is another area where they spent money that Casio did not.
There are certainly subjective reasons to prefer the Casio such as brand name recognition, a proven track record, styling preferences, Bill Gates, the Pointy Fish, etc. Being a member of the Order of the Marlin is fun, no question. I have a "batman" version Duro that I modded with a sapphire crystal, cyclops so I could actually see the date, and stainless bracelet as I found the rubber strap uncomfortable. Addiesdive MY-HC3 has most of that stuff right out of the box. My Amazon price for one is showing ~$53.54 after 15% off coupon.
Great watch for the price and people seem to love it. I have one and it's worth mentioning that the lume isn't great, it's on the larger side size wise, and it scratches very easily...the crystal, the band (metal band that is), the bezel... everything. Still, it's well worth the money and I wear it as a beater and it does take a beating.
Punches way out of it's price point. You can even upgrade this with a new crystal, face, hands....lots of aftermarket parts available. Island Watch makes some nice metal bracelets for this. It's a little large, so if you have small wrists this may not be the watch for you.
Greaattt watch!! Have had this in the rotation for years. Wore it with a leather strap for a while, just started rotating some NATO straps and see myself wearing it more and more. Best part, I've NEVER worried when it gets beat around.
Price is right, too... I picked it up for $43 back in 2021.
My favorite travel watch. Looks great and if I get robbed for it, it's $40. Get a aftermarket silicone strap and you're good to go.
I'm on my second one, broke the first one in a motorcycle accident but it's still ticking and used as a bathroom clock lol. Punches well above its weight. Black is the best color imo
I've seen people replace the glass for sapphire
Thanking about picking up a spare. The glass does scratch easy but it's a $40 beater

This has been my daily driver for the past 3 years. Punches above its weight for the price in terms of style and quality. Some people have said the rubber straps will wear out but mine is still in good shape. Smooth finish is susceptible to little scratches but that's expected if you wear it all the time like I do. Buy some Nato straps off Amazon or Aliexpress to match your outfits. I plan to buy another just to have if I ever break this one. Solid watch!
this is one of my favorite everyday wears. i get one person asking what watch it is about once a week
People have asked more about what kind of watch this is compared to other watches I wear. I was once asked if it was a new Rolex model from retired vet rocking a gold Datejust. This thing just stands out. Love it
It is. I bought one a couple years ago when I read about him wearing it. Not that I would buy whatever he wears… I just think it's so weird a billionaire would come into contact with this watch at all. Wish I could ask him how he came to own it.
I collect nice watches but bought this in 3 version: black, blue and Pepsi. All the comments about punching above its weight/price are accurate. I've been thinking about swapping in a sapphire crystal on one of them to see how it looks. Great watches, I pair them with nato bands.

I have one and I have not / single scratch on it. Mind you this is a sub 50$ dive watch that has a screw down crown and working bezel. Sure what you said is correct very it's the best watch for the price hands down.
