I just want to say as a man in my 30s that always used cheap Walmart knives in his 20s getting a set of 3 zwilling knives was a game changer. I'm still in awe of how great they are.

Get a whetstone, watch a bunch of YouTube videos on how to get good at sharpening and thank me later. Practice with your cheap Walmart knives before using your Zwilling on it. I was able to make my Walmart knife sharp af, then my Zwilling even sharper.

My 4-star lasted almost 20 years with basic maintenance, my brother's Global is more than 10 for sure. Both are in good conditions with absolutely no signs of needing to be replaced. I think it comes down to the preference on the handles. I am not a fan of Global knife handles...

another option if you dont know that you will master a whetstone is the spiderco sharpmaker. i love mine. with everything else i was always worried about keeping the same angle. the sharpmaker makes it idiot proof.

Do you have a knife sharpener for them? How long have you had them and do they stay sharp? Thank you

For what it's worth my (5 knives) 4-Star from 2003 is still going strong. I usually have them sharpened about once per year. In recent years I've been using more Japanese knives for the longer edge retention but "2 Man" Zwilling is worth the investment.
